I stayed at Roses Cottage with my husband and 2 young children. It is located just a 30 second walk behind the central square in Portscatho, and has the benefit of private parking spaces which those cottages in the square and Lugger just dont have.
There decked terrance to the exterior is perfect as the gate can be secured and the children can play safely - the french doors also open up so they can go in and out freely.
Considering this is used as a holiday rental, the decor is in very good condition. Upstairs the bedrooms are laid out with doubles at either end of the house - the stairs and the third bedroom are in the centre. The third bedroom is more of a twin with third bunk bed over if needed. The bedrooms aren't massive but thats the way these houses were built and it all adds to the charm.
The property has obviously been fully refurbished in the past and has all mod cons and appliances as you would expect. All in all we loved the cottage and couldn't fault it.
One word of advice - dont expect a mobile phone signal in Portscatho, but the house itself is wi-fi'd and has a landline.
Portscatho itself is quaint and probably punches above its size with the shops and amenities. There is a great convenience store, butchers, post office, gallery, gift shops and a fantastic pub (Plume of Feathers). Again some advice, if you want to eat at the pub you need to book as it is so popular - kids are welcome and well catered for.
The beach in Portscatho is covered at high tide so you need to walk round to Porthcurnick beach (about 5 or 10 mins walk). There is a little cafe here selling ice cream, cakes, pasties etc.
All in all, we had a great time - this is the place for a typical English bucket and spade holiday.
