Went here with my husband, who had been here a few times before. We split the seafood and shellfish platter for an appetizer (served over dry ice, it literally looked like a wizard was presenting the food!!!) The oysters were absolutely outstanding, as were the shrimp, though I was not as much of a fan of the tuna, but some of the sauces that accompanied the dish were a perfect balance and really complemented the seafood. However, the signature appetizer shrimp scampi and the popovers simply blew me away... the scampi was amazing!

For dinner, we both opted for the cowboy ribeye (dry aged), which was outstanding, and the brussel sprouts side dish. I was almost too full for dessert, though my husband wanted to try the butter cake (not really my thing, though it was very well made, I'm just a chocolate person!).

We also had an outstanding couple of glasses of wine - one so good I went out and actually bought a bottle, and I've never done that before!

We'd definitely like to go back for a special occasion, it was a wonderful way to spend an evening, and the service was excellent.

Atmosphere, food and service are all top notch at this Morristown restaurant. They have been around long enough to get out all the kinks, and serve first class food, consistently, great, personal service - attentive, but not hovering - and a lovely atmosphere. It's great for business, a ladies lunch, or a romantic dinner for two. The only caveat is, check the menu, so you won't be surprised with the prices, which are closer to NYC, than Morristown. That being said, the food is excellent and beautifully presented. They start you off with a delicious, hard to not eat, pop over, freshly baked and warm. The dinner menu includes more steaks, but the lunch menu has beautiful salads - the crab being my favorite - and sandwiches. They also have a wonderful bar menu, if you choose to sit in that area. This is a wonderful addition to offset the many mediocre restaurants, that line the streets of Morristown.

The usual Filet Mignon can never go wrong stands tested at Roots.
They cook to your exact specifications and really do know what Medium-Rare means and what the consumer expects. The place is rather pricey, but full of people dining to their hearts content. This is probably the best steakhouse in Morristown and definitely worth a visit if you are craving good steak and a happening restaurant.
Expect about $100/person which includes Appetizer, Main course, Desert, and a glass of wine ($120 if you count the tip).

The food was tasty, carrot cake was huge, atmosphere at the restaurant is great, waiters are prompt. Overall Very Good experience.

Been meaning to go here for several years and finally did it. The overall atmosphere was traditional steakhouse--large, high-backed booths with dark wooden décor and an all male wait staff that wore jackets and didn't take your order on a I-Pad.
They started us off with a nicely done pop-over and a large pat of butter that had a small mound of coarse salt sitting in the middle. The menu had a such a great variety of items that made choosing difficult. Everything we saw or ordered was steakhouse-sized and of top quality (the jumbo lump crab meat appetizer had enormous lumps of crab). After much deliberation we each ordered the 20oz dry-aged cowboy steak done rare. They came out perfect with a thin crust and a purple cool center. As our side we order the brussel sprouts with pearl onions in a cream sauce which was outstanding. The drinks and service were very good. All-in-all we couldn't have asked for a better "back in time" steakhouse experience. We will definitely be back.

Roots is an upscale Steakhouse with great ambiance and impeccable service. The meal was delicious and enjoyable! Nice jazzy music and attentive staff made our dinner a wonderful experience. The manager came to our table to make sure everything was to our liking.
