“Lovely hotel in ideal location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 July 2012

If you're looking for a good value and quality place to stay in Llanes, then this hotel is ideal. It has well presented, recently refurbished, exceptionally clean rooms in an impressive historic building. The staff were polite, helpful and efficient and spoke good English. In my 5 days in Llanes, I didn't spot anywhere else I'd rather stay! The car parking is also easy, with plenty of spaces, and is less than a minute walk from the hotel entrance.

Although our first impression of the hotel was of dated carpets, it was a comfortable stay. Despite the modern bathroom, the main bedroom needs updating. But we were more than aware that other hotels in the area were pitched at a much higher price. The service was good, and we enjoyed a nice drink in the bar before heading out to enjoy Luarca - the paseo along the coastline was beautiful.

Myself and my other half spent 3 nights here last weekend. The building itself is really lovely but I feel the décor is a bit too modern and they could've done so much more with it. We were in a room on the 3rd floor with 2 single beds pushed together (on peeking into other rooms on the same floor whilst they were being made up this seems to be normal) but had lovely views of the mountains surrounding Llanes. The bathroom was HUGE, with a beautiful walk-in shower and large showerhead. We decided not to try to switch rooms as we liked having the view.
The staff were lovely and friendly and only too happy to help. We ate in the restaurant (the old chapel) on the 1st night (they have a menu in English too) and while the other half's mussels and steak were perfect my seafood-stuffed peppers and monkfish weren't great (peppers were really fishy and monkfish was under cooked) and resulted in diarrhoea the following day, so perhaps be weary of the seafood here.
Other than that this hotel is wonderful - especially when we saw some of the other hotels in Llanes! This is in a great location, quiet at night, beautifully maintained and very reasonably priced. I would recommend this place if you are planning on visiting soon!
We also walked to the nearby village of Poo, which is quite uninteresting as a village but has a rather unusual beach which I loved even in the rain and reckon it's worth the short, easy walk.

We stayed at this hotel for four nights as part of a Brittany Ferries package. Having tried hotels linked to large companies in the past e.g. Easyjet, and been disappointed, we were rather wary. However we were more than happy with the Don Paco. The hotel is a beautiful old building in the heart of Llanes which has had a number of roles, including that of convent, school and fortress/prison. The old exterior hides a very tasteful and modern conversion. All facilities are smart and kept in good working order. The bedrooms are large and the bathrooms with walk-in shower are practical and smart. The dining room is the large hall at the heart of the hotel and has many interesting stone features.
Staff are very courteous and welcoming and the continental breakfast which can be very meagre in such hotels was surprisingly varied. Wifi is also available throughout the whole hotel and is free (take note most UK hotels!).
The only issue that needs to be pointed out is that parking at the hotel is at its sister hotel, the Montemar, just 200 metres up a side road. This was not made clear in the instructions sent to us by the ferry company.
Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone touring Northern Spain or looking for a stop within reach of Santander and the ferries.
Llanes itself is a small lively resort with a large number of small bars and restaurants so eating out is easy and an adventure in itself. It is also a great centre for exploring the lovely Picos de Europa mountains and beaches in the area.

We were absolutely delighted with our choice in this hotel and had used Tripadvisor to check it out before we booked it. I would agree totally with other comments, lovely friendly hotel, spotlessly clean, lovely room with excellent large walk in shower. Staff very friendly, buffet breakfast very good etc. Llanes itself is a beautiful spot and I would highly recommend it - lovely scenic walks along the headlands from the Paseo Maritimo - marina not finished yet but should be amazing when it is. Restaurants etc. very reasonable and a great buzz around the place.
