We booked this rental for three nights over a weekend, there were five of us - my husband and I, my elderly parents and my brother. My brother was over for a short visit from South Africa and the idea was that we could all have some time together and show him a little bit of Andalucia. This 'apartment' is I believe a half converted cellar/garage. From the outside there is a normal looking window and door but inside is a different story. There was a double bedroom, en suite; this consisted of a small lumpy double bed with a weird bedside table covered in dust, the mirror on the wardrobe was also dirty and the handle of the bedroom door came away in our hands. The en suite had no door and behind a shower curtain was a dark tunnel- like storage space with some old shelving and no light so it was impossible to actually see what might be lurking down there. There was no hook for the shower so you had to hold onto it whilst showering. There was no window so in either the bedroom or bathroom there was no natural light or fresh air. My parents room had light from a window in the back wall which was the dividing wall to the kitchen - so again no external wall or window. The room was too small for them to be able to close the door as one of the beds was blocking it in. My brothers room was slightly better with at least an outside window though it was tiny. The living area had a dining table and chairs. The chair covers were so filthy we didn't sit on them. The kitchen was the size of a broom cupboard with old stained cutlery and mismatched crockery. We had to go out and buy a corkscrew. (and multi surface cleaner as the sink and worktops were dirty). The owner asked if we had brought our own bedding and towels when I said of course not he left a pile of sheets and towels outside. All stained with holes in them and none matched. No pillow cases. I could go on and on but I'll finish with that the whole place stank of damp.
No I didn't complain about any of this to the owner because we didn't want to waste our precious time together. We just decided to make the best of it - there is a lovely garden and pool which we made the most of - we were in the apartment- or the dungeon as we took to calling it- to only sleep.
Finally, the house is on a lovely estate with nice views and peaceful. However it is up a very steep hill and there is nowhere within walking distance to eat and drink. Despite all this we had a great time because that's the kind of family we are.
