We ended up in Izola after a long bike ride and had no idea where to eat. We ended up at Marina based on the location and the reviews. Given that it’s a hotel restaurant we were expecting an OK and overpriced meal. We were met by an extremely personable waiter suggested that our family of 3 share a risotto with mushrooms and seafood and then a grilled fish and seafood platter with a side dish of Swiss chard and potato. We asked about the sea bass and he explained that it and the other fish on the menu are farmed whereas he would bring us wild fish that is local and fresh. The risotto was fantastic. It was made not with plain mushrooms but with fresh chanterelles! And it was just the right amount. Then the seafood platter arrived and it was gorgeous - with several filets of delicious fish plus grilled shrimp, squid and octopus. It was a lot of food! Unfortunately we filled up on the deliciously soft bread dipped in local olive oil and salt from Piran so had a hard time finishing and absolutely no room for dessert. We had a long ride and a hike ahead of us so did not order wine which would have made the meal beyond perfect.
