Reviewed 10 April 2016

I just finished a 1-might stay at Hotel Emire as part of some sightseeing in Transylvania. This was my first time in the area and was not sure what to expect. The hotel is a bit off the neaten path, but there were enough signs for us to find it. The hotel's decoration is a bit ecletic, but comfortable and clean. The staff was friendly, helpful, and efficient.I was given a room with a view to the east and was treated to a spectacular mountain view from my balcony. We had dinner in the hotel dining room and it was quite good, as was breakfast the following morning. So all of that was fine. The only reason I give them only 4 stars is because the layout of my room was quite odd. Most of the members of my group stayed on the 1st floor and had "typical" rooms. My room was on the second floor, and had a set of stairs leading up to a loft that contained the bed. The opening between to top of the stairs and the loft that held the bed was only about 4 feet tall, requiring me to duck through it, and the ceiling was less than 6ft tall in about half of the loft area. When I got up in the middle of the night, I managed to bump my head on the ceiling.
BOTTOM LINE - If you are looking for a hotel near Bran Castle, you should definitely consider staying at Hotel Emire. It lives up to it's 4-start rating. But unless your are feeling adventurous, you should probably ask for a room on the 1st floor.

Room Tip: Rooms on the east side have the best view. Second floor rooms may mean ahving to deal with stairs a...

Stayed at Hotel Emire on Halloween night. Gentleman at the front desk was kind and helpful, and spoke English very well. It is only a short drive to the Bran Castle, and you can catch a cab cheaply. Had dinner in the dining room, the food was amazing, and the service was good. Our room was clean and the bed was comfy. I am normally cold all of the time, so enjoyed that the hotel was warm and toasty. Our balcony had a spectacular view. Breakfast in the morning was a traditional Romanian style buffet. The stray dog outside was adorable and friendly, and loved by all the guests. All in all, we enjoyed our stay here, and would gladly return.

Room Tip: The king room was nice

We stayed at Hotel Emire on October 31st for Halloween. The hotel is just a 10 minute drive from Bran (Dracula's) Castle.

A winding road to reach the hotel, but very well signposted so we didn't have any problems.

The room was very nice on first inspection, they had even left a Halloween chocolate pumpkin out for us which was a cute extra!

The bed was impressive and the rose petals a nice touch. Our room had a balcony which was nice, little disappointed as we didn't have a view of Bran Castle like I had hoped, but a nice view none the less.

The WiFi signal was strong and we both slept fairly well, though we were very warm as there was no air conditioning in the room.

We ate at the restaurant for dinner and enjoyed the food, the service was a bit slow even though we were the only couple dining, but overall impressed. We also had the breakfast which was a standard Romania buffet style. Not the best I have encountered but not the worst either!

The man on the reception was helpful and very polite.

Parking was free, easy and right outside. Great!

Overall a very enjoyable night!

(We met a very sweet and friendly stray dog outside, we watched from our balcony and the little dog came out from under a car to greet each guest, everyone loved her. Hotel Emire could you adopt her please?)

My personal opinion is that - for tge conditiin offered - the prices are a little bit to high. I have shared an apartment with 3 other friends, but i would not recomend it for two families. The room upstairs has no entrance door and the height reaches 1.80m only half the room. The food was good and the rooms were clean. Apart of the swiming pool, wich is ok, there are no other sports or games to play. The personnel was polite and friendly

We booked an apartment which should have, according to Booking.com, AC and 2 bedrooms, suitable for 4 adults. After a short look over the available pictures, where only one bedroom was shown, we called the property by phone – once again, we were assured that 2 separate bedrooms (each one with a private bathroom), are available (we mentioned that we are 2 families, i.e., 4 adults). The cruel reality was: one huge living, with AC, but one bedroom without AC (and having the bathroom with no private entrance); the other bedroom was in the attic, with no AC either, with no entrance door (!), very small – only kids with 1,20 m high or less could use it (and the adjacent bathroom was even smaller). It was very hot – the small AC in the living worked 48 h without success for any of the bedrooms.
We try to switch the apartment with 2 normal rooms, but we found that no other room of the property has AC (in fact, neither hallways nor stairways, neither the restaurant nor the lounge), despite the information on Booking.com; we try to leave, but – according to the policy of Booking.com – we were informed that the first night will be cashed anyway… This is a terrible weak point – who is responsible for such incorrect information, and who should pay for this??? They gave themselves 4 stars (but in the attic there were no chairs, no wardrobe, only a bed which effectively fill the room!), ask for a 4 star price, and show only convenient photos of available rooms – and Booking.com let the tourists to be robbed??? I expect some compensation! We ruined our weekend staying 2 nights there, in a terrible heat (under the roof there were 50 Celsius degrees or more), with two of us climbing the narrow stairs and kicking their heads… and the price was not at all very low! We should mention also that Wi-Fi was very weak in the living and almost null (i.e., useless) in any of the bedrooms?

Room Tip: Avoid hot days because no A/C available in most of the rooms
