We stayed here during a road trip through Italy. Unless you are only planning to stay local, you definitely need a car.

The hotel is not modern, but a charming 1700s villa which has been nicely adapted and renovated. The bathroom is fine (shower only), and the AC required in the summer, but the simple decor emphasises the original design elements of the building and, for example, there is only a small TV and standing wardrobe. They don't provide toiletries, but if you don't have your own you can buy a pack of hotel-like miniatures for 10 euros.

One of the best features of the hotel is the pool (it's also the reason we chose this particular hotel). The water isn't heated, but on a hot, sticky summer day the cool water is refreshing. There's a bar alongside the pool if you need drinks or a snack. It's open until 9 pm, so one particularly hot evening we snuck in a refreshing swim before dinner.

Breakfast (included) is the standard Italian hotel fare - pastries, meats, cheeses, fruits but the coffee comes from a machine. The hotel restaurant is good enough.

With our car, we easily took day trips to Padua and Vicenza. Venice was easy to get to from the bus stop across the street (tickets about 7 euro each round trip, purchased from the hotel, took about 40 minutes). Venice is a zoo and we didn't get a seat on the bus, so were we to do it again, I'd probably take advantage of the tours offered by the hotel for 90 euros each, including transportation.

Based on other tripadvisor reviews, I booked this hotel for 4 days for my daughter and myself, so we could visit both Venice and Verona easy using public transport. First of all I must say what an absolutely beautiful hotel and location. The hotel is immaculate but full of charm, and the grounds are also immaculate, green, lush and simply lovely. The pool is glorious and it's at the far end of the 'garden' with its own bar, and its own menu during the day.
Air con in the room was good and very much needed as we went when the heatwave was in full flow! There were also shutters on the window, and a wonderfully comfortable bed, so the night times were very comfortable. Immaculate bathroom, clean white fluffy towels, room serviced everyday.
At the airport it was simple to get a bus into Venice (buy a ticket from inside the terminal before getting on the bus, the buses don't take money) and we paid 42€ for two return tickets from the airport to Mirano. Way cheaper than an airport transfer (€60 each way) and really very easy, plus we had a seat every single time we caught the bus.
We found the 7E bus at Venice station (it's the last stop, you'll know where to get off!).
The 7E takes about 40 minutes to get to the hotel. It's in Mirano, and if you keep your eye out the window after about 30 minutes journey time, you'll see a massive sign for the hotel on the right. Push the bell and you're right there, about 10 yards from the entrance. If you miss it (you won't, the signs huge) you'll only end up in Mirano town (last stop again) and it's a few minutes walk back up the road.
The whole hotel is airconditioned and gorgeous. The staff are also amazing, nothing is too much trouble, ever.
We had our evening meal in the hotel for all 3 evenings and it was fablous and very well priced. We chose to sit outside, as it's so stunning and elegant. Nothing plastic, the hotel is 100% quality. We don't eat meat and whilst the menu wasn't huge there was plenty of sea food and veggie options available. The sea bass ravioli was probably my favourite, but the spagetti vongole came a close second. We had a bottle of prosecco with every meal, and it was wonderful, served bone cold and again, so resonably priced it was an affordable luxury we had every night! The waiting staff are also amazing...and look fantastic! The only down side is the mosquitos..my own fault for not even thinking about mosquito repellant. Take some, trust me.
Breakfast is in a light beautiful dining room, and is a 'help yourself' affair, with much gadgetry! My favourite was the pancake machine. There is a whole fresh honeycomb next to it, so my morning luxury was fresh pancakes with a small piece of whole honeycomb and fresh strawberries. Usually after I'd had some eggs, cheese and toast.... Such a beautiful spread every day, I loved it.
Day trip to Venice is easy peasy. Back on the 7E, which you get over the road, literally 20 foot from the gates, and runs 3 times an hour till past midnight. Reception will give you times and sell you a ticket for 7€....bargain.
Our second day excursion was to Verona. Reception (gosh they were wonderful!) arranged a taxi for us to the train station, and also for him to collect us on the return, having also checked all the train times for us. Taxi booked through them it was €30 for drop off and pick up later that evening. The train to Verona took an hour and 45 minutes (take water, no refreshments!) and cost 8€'s each way each..wow!
The station in Verona is really quite busy and it took us a minute to work out which way to go (turn right, keep going, cross over the road at the junction, signed to tourist information) but we found our way to Juliet's balcony eventually. (Strangely moving even though v v busy). We had a wonderful lunch under the umbrellas, in front of a large fan, in the square round the corner.
Verona seemed much friendlier than Venice (which was absolutely stunning, but I felt wary of numerous tourist traps).
So, the Villa Patriarch has got to be one of the absolute best finds, better than I expected and incredible value for money. Genuinely one of the best places, across all parameters I've ever stayed in, wish I had booked for longer...love love loved it.

Hotel Patriarcha Is not on the island of Venice but is approximately six miles away.
We have stayed there many times including last week. It is set in a beautiful garden with a swimming pool. There is a bus stop just outside the hotel gates and here you can catch a bus into Venice. It takes forty minutes.
The Patriarcha is excellent and it's much cheaper than staying in Venice.
They serve a very good buffet breakfast.

Room tip: We liked the ground floor rooms in the extension which opened onto the garden.

We loved this hotel, it is gorgeous! In a very peaceful location which was a welcome break from the busyness of Venice itself. It takes 40 minutes on the local 7E bus to get to the centre of Venice. Definitely an experience; buses are absolutely packed, at all times of day. But, they run really regularly, and they are low cost.

Mirano is a cute, quiet little town; about 10 minutes walk from the hotel, and definitely worth visiting. There was a huge market on monday morning, which was bustling and some very good value bargains to be had. Some nice little restaurants, and amazing Gelateria's which huge choices of gelato.

Villa Patriarca was excellent value for money. It is spotlessly clean, and we loved the quaint rooms in the "ancient" part of the hotel. Would have liked a kettle/drink making facility in the room, but everything else perfect.
The swimming pool is fantastic; kept beautifully clean and a real asset to the hotel.
Breakfast was good; great range of continental options, good coffee. Loved the fresh honeycomb. However; only one toaster which honestly takes about 10 minutes to even brown the bread! And, the orange juice is very watery; would have preferred fresh, but only a minor point.
The one evening meal we had in the hotel was absolutely delicious; every course was perfect. Thank you.
The staff were all incredibly helpful, friendly and are a great team.
We would definitely recommend, and would love to return one day.

Me and my partner stayed at the hotel over the course of 5 nights in June. We would first like to say a massive thank you to all the staff that were extremely helpful.

However a few issues we had.

Firstly food. We both felt that the breakfast was a major let down. There was very limited choice. Would suggest hot food and more variety to accommodate other nationalities. One day we actually skipped breakfast due to no choice but paid for it in advance, so this was not great at all. Also dinner menu, could have been a lot more choice. However a nice touch, we were given breakfast bags for our early flight - although we did not eat it :(

Secondly cleaners for the room. On a few occasions we had cleaners come into the room without knocking on the door. Obviously a knock is all we need and we appreciated how clean the room was kept. However if we were 'busy' and someone did walk in this would of ruined our stay.

And lastly. When we requested the bill we see that we were charged for a dinner for £56.00. This was very quickly rectified by the lovely receptionist but if we did not notice this we would of been charged a dinner that we didn't eat.

Although there was a few issues, the staff were amazing. It was our first holiday abroad together and without the help it would of been a struggle. So thank you!

Dear Laura and Martin,

thank you for spending your time to leave this comment!

We would like to say thank you for your positive note on the Staff, we really do our best in order to fulfill all our guests' needs and it is great for us to know that this is noted and appreciated.

Concerning your opinion on the other services, it will, of course, help us to improve the services we offer to our guests.
Breakfast has a wide range of italian products (most of them cooked by our chefs such as home made cakes) but includes also salty choices for foreign guests.
During this period it may happen, as we have a lot of guests and most of all organized groups, that they all have breakfast at the same time and the buffet has to be replaced on the spot and the chef needs to cook food, so it may not be immediate.

On the dinner matter, we do apologise as we wrongly typed the room number and, as you already said, we immediately solved the situation :)

We would like to tell you that your comment will be taken into account as it is important for us.
Thank you for choosing our Hotel for your first holiday, we hope to see you again in the future.

Best regards,
Villa Patriarca Hotel Staff
