My friend and I shared a room here for 3 nights in September as a base to Venice the islands of Venice. It is very difficult to get to via public transport as the local busses are a little unreliable, the drivers are unhelpful, you can't buy a ticket on the bus and it takes 90 minutes+ to get from the airport, however a taxi is expensive.
The hotel is lovely, immaculately clean, the pool area was beautiful, the breakfast was good and above all the staff were fantastic! There is not much around an the immediate vicinity but there is a taverna that sells excellent pizza and good wine which the receptionist recommended very nearby. It would be an excellent base to explore both Venice and surrounds with a car as there is ample parking.
There is a bus stop right outside which takes 45 minutes to get into Venice, and the last one leaves Venice around midnight. Even if you have a car there is no point in driving to Venice.
The only reason I can't give the hotel 5 stars is that it takes so long to get from the airport on public transport despite only being ~20 minute drive, and a taxi is circa $60. They should consider a hotel operated shuttle for less than a taxi and it would be ideal. If you are renting a car though it is ideal! More
