As part of a cycling trip in Umbria, my husband and I were booked into the Villa Zuccari. What a delight!

The Villa is gorgeous. Our room had a small patio area with a table and chairs. The view from our patio was of the lovely garden and a peek of the swimming pool. The garden is large enough to walk through and to admire the statues. There are many rose bushes but they were not blooming during our trip.

Our room was extremely comfortable and the walls and ceiling were painted with a mural of vines and flowers. Such a lovely touch!

We ate dinner in the dining room and the food was quite delicious. Our waiter was charming and sweet and helped us choose a great wine.

Breakfast was in a gorgeous room with more murals of the countryside. There were lots of wonderful pastries, yogurts (including soy yogurt), granola, eggs, meats, cheese, toast, juices and at least 12 different kinds of jam.

Everything was prepared and presented beautifully. We couldn't help but feel as though we were treated to luxury.

We also chatted with the very charming owner of the hotel. Her husband's family has owned the property since the 13th century and remodeled the hotel in the 19th century. Although she must be asked the same questions all day long, every day, she couldn't have been more kind and sweet.

From the lovely welcoming owners and accommodating staff to the spacious gorgeous rooms, everything at the Villa Zuccari is absolutely delightful. The hotel feels like a country house where the family assure your happiness by all the extra personal things provided. The rooms are individually decorated with hand painted delicate murals. The food was lovely; good quality and tasty, just what was needed (after days on the road where sometimes the traveller ends up with a repetitive plethora of overly-fancied dishes). The wine list is excellent with local wines from the region and Umbria a speciality and, moreover, the waiters seem knowledgeable on the food and wine they serve. The breakfasts were exceptionally good with home made cakes and savouries made by the delightful owner, Daniella, freshly baked that morning. She told me about the glorious roses in the gardens too and about the paths through the beautiful grounds. Amidst the rose gardens lounges a pristine swimming pool and where, with the help of a drinks waiter, you can laze the afternoon. Nearby is the stunning village of Bevagna which, amongst others, is well worth a day's visit.

Room Tip: All rooms lovely. Maybe a ground floor one with private terrace

We stayed here for two nights as part of our trip around Umbria. As we were in Montefalco for two days to wine taste, we needed somewhere easy for travelling around the region.
What a lovely surprise Villa Zuccari was! The photos do not do it justice. The furnishing and interiors are very traditional and so tasteful due to the family's love of antiques.
The pool area is simply stunning and well maintained.
Finally, service by both reception and the restaurant was outstanding. Thanks to all at Villa Zuccari!

We originally planned on 2 nights here and after we arrived, we decided to cancel our other plans and extend our stay here for another 2 nights-total of 4 nights. One of our best vacations ever! This place is very special. Our east facing room was spacious, comfortable and nicely appointed. All of the gentlemen at reception were so helpful with ideas and tips for excursions, dining and also very helpful with helping us communicate w our rental car company. The service here was expert and never intrusive. The breakfasts were abundant with fresh made pastries and confections with an array of local jams, cheeses, meats and fruits.
After our days of sightseeing, we returned to the Villa to swim and relax poolside. With the exception of an obnoxious bike group staying there ("Backroads"-loud and arrogant people but that's not the fault of the Villa) the other guests-all couples were polite and discreet.
We enjoyed two dinner meals in the dining room and we're very pleased with the meals and the service. The only cons: neighborhood noises-wood mill industry during week days and early morning barking neighborhood dogs. We loved our time here and hold this place very special.

We were here for the 10 th time in as many years. Upon arrival, I immediately realise why we are coming back each year (which is not our habit): the beautiful hotel and garden with marvellous pool, the spacious authentic rooms, the abundant breakfast with lots of homemade cakes, the tasty umbrian cuisine at their restaurant "le zuppiere",the great location to visit Umbria and parts of Le Marche... but what really makes it our "home in italy" are the friendly, helpful owners and staff. A true gem!
