We knew we wanted to check out the EAP Museum and I am so glad we did. It was inexpensive, and had a great deal of information about Poe. They had the staircase and his bed from his childhood home and so many interesting facts about his life and family. There was a nice little garden on the grounds and the two people who were there running it were very nice. There is also a library upstairs you can reserve a time for.

PROS: free parking, good 45 min entertainment , varied artifacts from Poe from childhood to his death. Located in several buildings – one of which is the oldest pre colonial building in VA.

CONS : not much in the gifts shop. Can be tight in the buildings if there are a lot of patrons.

The Edgar Allan Poe Museum is definitely worth visiting. Small, but very well maintained and decorated. Historical facts abound on the site and there is a lovely garden between buildings. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly...and 2 more guides exist that wander the site - 2 beautifully friendly black cats!
Well worth the time

$8 adult admission. Very small museum with appropriate signage and information. Gift shop has many unique Poe related gifts. Preservation Richmond donated the Old Stone House.

I found this place to very boring and pricey for the exhibts it offered. I would rather read his works than see this house ne never lived in.
