“Perfect location in a beautiful Italian town”
Reviewed 24 August 2015 for a stay in July 2015

We stayed here with our two boys and have to say that all the positive reviews are spot on. It is in a fantastic location, with views over the harbour from one side of the house, and a quiet little piazza at the other side. It is over 3 floors, with bedrooms top and bottom, and the kitchen and living room in the middle. There is aircon in the bedrooms if you need it, and a large cooling fan in the living room. If you want to, you can spend hours just watching the boats coming and going from either of the two terraces. As it is literally 30m from the old castle, you are right in the old part of town. The parking is fine, as you can park in the piazza, assuming you can navigate around the town! There is an icecream shop and small supermarket just up the hill, and lots of really nice restaurants within a couple of minutes walk. The local public beach is about 5 minutes walk away, and is a combination of sand and fun rocks and rock pools. It is about 2 minutes down to the harbour, where you can boat trips up the coast. We arrived to find a fridge full of lovely Italian delicacies cooked by Marco's mum. This made us feel really special, and was very welcome. Marco was fantastic and really helpful for booking and when we were there, and his English was very good. We would totally recommend this house to others, and would love to come back.

A meeting place organised and led to our beautiful apartment overlooking the fishing port of this village. Wonderful delicacies for our dinner for the first night provided by Marco's mother. Would recommend this rental to all. The apartment had everything we required and more. Very friendly village.
Many thanks Marco

“stunning view and location”
Reviewed 18 March 2015 for a stay in March 2015

It is all true (read the other reviews). This house has a stunning view overlooking the harbour of this small fishing and tourist port. You can sit on either of the two balconies looking out at the green-azure sea and boats, watching the fisherman sell their catch directly to their customers, ‘pesca a zero chilometri’ in the mornings and the ‘passegiata’ (promenade) in early evening. You can join in by tripping down 78 steps to the harbour-side where there is a lovely choice of glass-fronted restaurants. Fish is the thing to have, but you can also get pizzas and pasta. And there is at least one bar/gelateria too.

Not only this, but you park your car and enter the house on the other side, which just happens to be in a glorious ‘piazza’ in the old historic centre.

If you get fed up of watching, strolling and eating there is plenty to do within a short drive: temples and amphitheatres at Segesta and walks at a coast nature reserve (Lo Zingaro) nearby, Palermo and Trapani within the hour.

We went off season in March. Castellamare might get a bit busier in the summer – but from the other reviews it still sounds fine.

It goes without saying that the house is really clean and comfortable. Marco speaks English and supplied us with a range of tasty treats cooked by his mum, for our arrival as well as very useful basics like milk and bread.

“Truly idyllic”

This house is beautiful, and located in the most idyllic setting, with the charming castle courtyard to the front, and wonderful views of the harbour from every window at the back. Alongside are native Sicilian neighbours which adds to the charm and authenticity of the place. On arrival, the landlord is very helpful, and greets you with wonderful hospitality, having lovely local food and wine to welcome you.
The house is comfortable and charming, it has two balconies looking on to the beautiful harbour. In a few minutes you can walk to the harbour or the town, but there are steps and inclines, so may not be suitable for the elderly or infirm.
We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday here, and recommend it if you want a relaxed holiday in a charming, authentic location.
