The house is beautiful. The area is calm, quiet. Allows you to appreciate nature. There are deer on the grounds. We will visit again.
We rented the property for my wife's birthday and had a total of 9 people. This was our first time in Johnson City and we really enjoyed this property. There are other homes nearby but it felt private due to the fences and tall grass that separated us from them. The amenities exceeded our expectations! We took advantage of the grill, fire pit, and kayaks. The house was great and very spacious. We really liked the large dining room table and large back porch. The fishing was good, and we saw plenty of deer, and I think we saw a bald eagle fly over the house... really cool! Jo Lea was great at communicating and making sure we had everything we needed.
The only negatives were that one of the restrooms downstairs had a hand held shower head that didn't seem to work properly, and a few wasps kept finding there way into the house. The only real critique I have is that there is no marker or sign that marks the entry. But all in all it's a great spot for a weekend getaway.
My husband and I booked this property for a long weekend with our five young-adult children and our son-in-law and it was perfect! From start to finish, the owner was great to communicate with and made us feel welcome and appreciated. When we arrived, there was a hospitality basket of goodies and a bottle of local TX-made wine, robes in the master suite, and guest toiletries in the bathrooms. Clear and easy instructions were left to help us settle in comfortably.
The house was very clean and stylish in a TX-Hill-Country-meets-French-Country kind of way, with an open layout downstairs that was conducive to everyone hanging out together. The farmhouse dining table was ideal for our group of eight, and the easy-to-use kitchen accommodated the numerous chefs working simultaneously on our nightly meals. All the beds were comfortable, linens were fresh, and the Internet worked well. Lighting throughout the house was particularly noteworthy, with lots of interesting fixtures and dimmers to get the mood just right.
We loved the beautiful view of the Pedernales River and surrounding countryside through the wall of windows to the south, and with the neighbors at a distance, the property felt very private and peaceful. Lots of time was spent on the back porch watching the deer that routinely wander through the yard.
The house is ideally situated for visits to the TX Hill Country wineries and area state parks, which we intended to do more of, but the weather turned rainy and chilly. No matter, we thoroughly enjoyed just being together at this house, cozied up to the living room fireplace or soaking in the hot tub on the back porch, watching the river mist blanket the view with a different kind of beauty. Having an enthusiastic thumbs-up from all our children, we are already planning our return to this lovely property -- a destination in itself!
Beautiful surroundings and the house is fantastic!! Enjoy the serene setting, beautiful views, lovely riverfront home, close to MANY wineries, shopping in Johnson City & Fredericksburg, short drive to Luckenbach, ++++ all that the hill country has to offer. Amenities are wonderful in this home! Highly recommend!!
