I very rarely write online reviews, but we were so impressed and made feel like part of the host's family, so that if we get a chance we will come back again in future.
Firstly, Pietro is a real gentleman and very helpful host. He answered all our queries prior to our holiday and even helped arrange our airport transfer to and back from Cala Gonone. (Please pass our best to Alesandro again)
On arrival we were greeted by Pietro's mum- Luisa who was so friendly and caring, and despite the language barrier went out of her ways to accommodate our minor requests and help fix some small issue very promptly.
The apartment was better than what the pictures showed online - ample space for our family of four- with two children of 3 and 10 years old. The flat was very clean and we really loved the touch of Sardinian Hospitality when Luisa greeted us with ice tea, and local biscuits on our arrival.
Absolutely perfect location- 2 minutes from the harbour, nearest beach and lovely restaurants., 5 minutes from nearest supermarket and 10 min walk to the larger beaches with a lovely shallow rock-pool by the surf that was heated in the sun to over 30C - better than a swimming pool (with all the little fish, crabs and shellfish to keep the kids happy and busy) Note all beaches in Cala Gonone are small pebbles, NOT sand, but we actually got to appreciate them very quickly- no more sand over your luggage or stuck in everywhere when you get back from the beach each day.
We don't drive, but there was local taxis (reasonable fares) that took us to another amazing spot- Cala Cortoe- pristine cove with fine golden sand sheltered by mountains on either side where we had an amazing day. Lots of history and cultural sites to explore close to Cala Gonone too.
We could not thank Pietro and Luisa enough for being so kind and helpful throughout our stay and on departure as they allowed us to keep our staff till our return in the afternoon to collect it before we get our flight transfer at 4pm.
Thank you once again for this memorable experience and making us feel at home with you. I hope we meet again :)
