“Wonderful location, house, host”
Reviewed 13 August 2015 for a stay in July 2015

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Viking Villa II (the smaller of the two houses). The location was perfect for taking long day trips north (the Kjolur route) and east (to Landmannalaugur) but also within a few minutes of a great "crater" hike, small store, farm stand. Maggnus and Inga were so accessible, helpful, super friendly and knowledgeable. We loved learning about Maggnus' plane and flying skills. The chickens unfortunately had been "found" by a fox so there were no eggs for us but we enjoyed hearing Maggnus' stories on this topic.

Our two teenagers were fine sleeping in the living room on the pull-out sofa and the adult bed was very comfortable. Everyone had fun playing the radio in the modern shower and the faint smell of sulfur when we used the hot water nicely reminded us of Iceland's geological foundation. As with everywhere in Iceland, the cold water out of the tap was so refreshing and delicious.

“Excellent villa and hosts”
Reviewed 5 August 2015 for a stay in July 2015

Superb accommodation and location for the Golden Circle. Maggnus and Inga were extremely helpful before arrival and during our time in Iceland (when we had a possible problem relating to Car Hire). The guest book is full of very happy visitor comments!

“Lovely Setting and Perfect Hosts”

Just returned from a week at the Viking Villa and what an amazing holiday we had.

The villa is very well-appointed with warm under-floor heating and views to die for. We were there in June for the midnight sun and luckily we had lovely blackout blinds in the bedroom, but we couldn't help but stay up until 1.00am most mornings watching the sun try to dip down below the horizon and fail - lucky for us!

Magnus and Inga are wonderful hosts. They spent a good hour going through what we wanted to do and giving really good advice as to what we should also include in our week's stay. They were also available every time we needed them - the wifi died a couple of times and with 2 teenagers it was a travesty but they contacted the phone company and found out why. We were very grateful for that!

A couple of their suggestions were really good. We visited the Westman Islands - that was really fun - we got to see some puffins on the south side of the island and climbed Eldfell. The weather turned in the afternoon so we went to the museum. We also visited the local Secret Lagoon in Fludir - for £12 it was peaceful and relaxing and a darn sight closer than the Blue Lagoon - we did this as well and it was a good experience - one of those things you have to do really! We spent a day following round the Golden Circle - Thingveller, Geysir and Gulfoss - that was amazing and well worth doing.

As you can probably tell, we hired a car. If you are hiring a vehicle and want to drive on any unmade roads, you must hire a 4x4 as regular cars are banned on some roads - and those are the roads you probably want to drive on!!

I would definitely recommend Viking Villas - it is central for Southern Iceland. 2 hours of easy driving from Keflavik and 1.5 hours from Reykjavik.

Our week consisted of:
Whale Watching with Elding from Reykjavik
Blue Lagoon
Golden Circle
Westman Islands
Secret Lagoon
Eyjafallokull - the 2 waterfalls and the visitor centre
4x4 drive across 20 rivers round the back of Eyjafallokull along dirt tracks
Crater at kerid

It was an action packed week and we ate several times at the little restaurant next to the Coop in Fludir - the food was lovely and the owner was very kind - I have done a review for them separately.

We plan to return - and that is something I rarely do!

Thank you Inga and Magnus

“Great Place to stay”
Reviewed 30 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

We have thoroughly enjoyed a week at Viking Villa. We are a family group of 8 people and have found the villa very well equipped with everything we could possibly need. The hosts Maggnus and Inga are very helpful and are a font of knowledge on local facilities and things to do in Iceland. Maggnus' friend Joi took us on an amazing 4 wheel drive 'Super Jeep' trip to see the glacier which was a day to remember. The nearby secret lagoon in Fludir was also a welcome haven. Thanks for a great stay, highly recommended.

“Perfect home away from home!”
Reviewed 4 April 2015 for a stay in March 2015

We stayed at Viking Villa 1 from 24th - 29th March 2015. When we saw the pictures and the reviews, and the price, we thought for sure there must be a catch - surely it couldn't be as good as it looked! But it was and then some! We could not have asked for a better place to come back to after our long days exploring this amazing country.

Upon arrival we had a very warm welcome from Magnuss, who spent time showing us around the Villa and telling us about the area. The Villa was clean, comfortable and very spacious. The underfloor heating meant that it was always warm, despite very cold temperatures outside and over a foot of snow! The facilities were excellent, with everything you need to cook at home if you didn't want to eat out and cooking staples such as oil and spices left by previous guests / Magnuss' family. The local shop in the village had plenty to get by, though larger supermarkets are available in the nearby Selfoss.

I really can't recommend this holiday rental enough. The location was excellent, a great place to access Reykjavik, the Golden Circle and the sights along Route 1. We even managed to see the Northern Lights from the Villa, an extra special treat. The house was so comfy, cosy, spacious and well equipped - including a very fancy shower!

Thank you very much Magnuss and Inga for such a wonderful stay, I am certain we will be back again!
