I usually avoid chain restaurants, but a friend wanted to go to Cheddar's for lunch. What I found is that Cheddar's has thought about every item on their menu, and formulated each recipe with their own unique combination of tastes and textures.
Cheddar's has flavored lemonade's and flavored iced teas. We both started with the mango iced tea. It was very well-balanced, and not too sweet.
For lunch, I had the Cheddar's Club sandwich. It was huge! More importantly, it came on toasted potato bread with honey mayonnaise, and included large piles of smoked turkey and smoked ham, and a generous amount of bacon, along with two kinds of cheeses, lettuce, and tomato. All of the ingredients were of high-quality, and well proportioned, and the combination of ingredients worked perfectly. The sides were also quite good, but unlike other places where the sides overtake the main item, the sandwich was clearly the star on the plate.
The wait staff was friendly, cheerful, and accommodating, but also a little "too much". They interrupted us every five minutes or so to ask how we were liking things, or if we needed anything. It was probably represents a bad management policy. Or waitstaff was experienced and more than capable of recognizing when we did or did not need anything.
Overall, Cheddar's was very good. I may have to rethink my ban on chain restaurants!
