This was an amazing trip in the winter to see Denali! My father and I joined a few strangers and together with our Pilot Dan (Awesome by the way) we got to see so many things from an advantage point few do. If you have the opportunity you should do this. I'm sure any of their other tours are just as great. The reviews of excellence once again did not prove wrong.

We went on Discover Denali flight seeing tour. Our Pilot, Chris, was awesome telling us stories and pointing out everything. Because the weather wasn't nice enough to see Denali he took us over a route showing us several glaciers and mountains. I think this would have been money well spent in the summer where weather might be more consistent and allow seeing Denali, animals etc. We were OK spending the money only because Chris went the extra mile and was such an awesome guy. If you go in the Winter you might want to watch the weather and wait to book.

This was my first time flying Rust's. I have done a previous Denali tour with K2 in Talkeetna several years ago. Both flights were spectacular! Upon arrival a Rust's office, we were greeted by friendly employees - who's names I cannot remember. We were weighed (I did not look a that that number :-) and purchased a few snacks for the trip. We were instructed to arrive 30 minutes prior to our flight. Our pilot-Chris came in right on time, introduced himself and escorted us to our plane. Being January, it was a bit cold climbing into the parked aircraft. We were all given information about the safety equipment on board and the headsets we'd be wearing were explained to us. There is a temporary issue with the windows in the back icing-up but there are towels available to wipe them off.

Once we were airborne and the heat got going, all the windows were clear. During our trip to Denali, Chris was narrating as we made our way from Anchorage. He was very knowledgeable about the area and pointed our numerous moose that we were flying over. We asked many questions-to which he answered thoroughly. He definitely loves his job and enjoys flying.

Once we arrived to the mountain range near Denali-the real fun began! Chris maneuvered the aircraft allowing passengers on both sides of the plane to take photographs. His knowledge of Denali and the surrounding mountains is impressive. He pointed out several different mountains and gave us a brief history of each. We spent quite a bit of time flying around Denali.

On the return to Anchorage, we made a brief stop in Talkeetna. We were welcomed in the office by friendly K2 employees-who's name I cannot remember. We were offered hot and cold beverages, a small gift shop and restrooms were provided. It was a cool little break during our 3 hour flight.

I will definitely be flying Rust's again in the future-perhaps for bear viewing.

I debated for a long time about doing this review because I usually only do 5 star reviews. And I'll start by saying it was a very memorable day, but not always for the right reasons! We (family of 5 adults) were picked up at our hotel. We really appreciated this service as we had no car and were not near the airport. Check-in was a little chaotic as there were a lot of people in a small space. Some trips were cancelled that day because of rain and fog, but our tour was delayed only a few minutes. Our pilot, Kyle, was amazing. He immediately put us at ease about climbing into a tiny seaplane with a 24 year old pilot. He was confident, professional, funny, informative and a great tour guide. He pointed out wildlife that we never would have seen. Since we were on the morning tour, we arrived at the lodge and headed out immediately on a pontoon boat. As mentioned, it was cold, raining and windy. We were dressed appropriately in warm layers and rain gear. However, when we got to the viewing site, the wind was blowing so much, that even with a cover over the boat, we were frozen and soaking wet. No one can control or predict the weather. We had scheduled this tour months in advance. My suggestion is, if possible, schedule close to the tour day when there may be a favorable forecast. At the site, we watched several eagles perched and flying while we waited a very long time. Finally, we did get to see a mama black bear and her cub. They walked around for a few minutes before retreating into the woods. We were pretty close and got some great pictures. Back at the lodge, thank goodness for the wood stove, where we warmed up and thawed out. Lunch was delicious. A word about Dr Stringham reading from his book and showing a video while we ate: One member of our group was very annoyed at being "held as a captive audience", while another member of our group bought the book! We still laugh about this! Our flight back good, and we again appreciated our shuttle to the airport. So why only 3 stars? The price mixed with the unpredictability of nature. We saw more bear(s) on glacier cruises that were half the price and where we were protected from the weather. Every tour in Alaska is a gamble, but this one was an expensive one.

Our trip to Chinitna Bay was the best part of our trip to Alaska this past June. The flight was beautiful and we saw so many bears! Our guide Mike was awesome and each spot we went to was better than the last. When we landed we went into Bear Mountain Lodge to get started. The lodge was so nice and had a bathroom we could use. They had a small bus with high quality binoculars ready for the four of us to get to different spots to observe bears. We saw other tour companies that showed up later that were exclusively walking with larger groups of people. It is a lot of ground to cover and it rains a lot in Alaska. We were fortunate to have nice weather, but I would not want to rely on walking only most days. Plus the ability to jump back in the bus made me feel a little safer. Rust's is the best!
