Best milkshake in town. Great spot for lunch. Try the chicken or the tasty burgers.

“Best onion rings in town”
Reviewed 29 January 2012

My first trip to "El Dub" (as some locals call it) was in 1989. Have been there repeatedly over the years, and it is consistently great. In fact, this is where we go for my birthday dinner every year now.

If you like onion rings, these are some of the best I've had anywhere. They're hand-breaded with a bit of cornmeal in the mix, and have a great crunch and just a hint of sweetness. The pan-fried chicken is terrific - crunchy on the outside, juicy on the inside. And their burgers are really good, too. As if that wasn't enough, their malts and milk shakes are super thick and delicious. This place is an Anchorage institution, founded before statehood in 1955. It's not fancy by any means, but they just keep serving up great food. To prove that point, it's almost always packed for lunch and dinner, even in the dead of winter when it's just us locals.

“Pan-fried chicken ... make sure it's freshly cooked.”
Reviewed 8 January 2012

Not deep fried, pan-fried. If it's fresh it so so good. Take out is a little tricky. The building was designed when the roads were different. Your best bet is probably to park and walk in. But, go! It is an Anchorage phenom. (and in Tucson too!)

“Longest open and with best food and cleaness and personality.”
Reviewed 8 January 2012

I patrionized the Bone for well over fifty years. The owners, George, Peggy and the family were unbeatable. I watched the party on TV, I could not attend. Thought George was in AZ.

George said all his friends were there, If that was true, he would need a big, big hanger.
