“A lovely reception and suite”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 April 2012

We had our wedding reception at the WAC and then stayed in the San Juan Suite for two nights before leaving for our honeymoon. Both the reception and the suite were wonderful!

San Juan Suite: Beautifully, uniquely, and tastefully decorated! So many unique decorations yet they fit together so well! We have taken design queues for our home from the suite. The bathrooms were lovely, the bed was soft but not too soft, and the living area was perfect. Room service was prompt, professional, and the food was warm and very tasty. The views from the SJS are very nice and very urban as well.

Reception: The Service was phenomenal, the food was exquisite (especially the chocolate cupcakes) and the reception was extremely affordable. We had our gathering in the Crystal Ballroom and the east/west rooms as well, and rented the surrounding rooms for the buffet style food and for sitting areas for guests. The ballroom and east/west rooms were largely standing room. Even our guests cannot stop talking about the service they received at the WAC- so much better than the caterers that many of our friends have hired. The WAC staff are unobtrusive, but there when you want them to be, and many of them have made careers out of service at the WAC. Whenever a guest was looking around, a service person would be right there, out of no where, to ask what they needed. The chef customized the menu to our tastes, and on the wedding day we received many surprise free upgrades (like the size of our cake!). Ashley was great to work with to organize the whole thing. Our setup people were allowed to arrive quite early to make last minute customizations to the decorations, stage, and DJ platform the WAC had already set up. They threw 2 nights in a suite for free as well! We are so glad we had our reception at the WAC.

The hotel is actually the top floors of the Washington Athletic club. There is a restaurant or two in the bulding and a snack bar. The workout facilities are top notch if that's your thing. The first room they gave us was tiny so we asked for a larger room. The switch was no problem. Both rooms had a nice somewhat obstructed view of the water. The bathroom had a great shower and was quite large. The bed was very comfortable. The location is great you can walk to many restaurants and Pike Place Market. Breakfast at the hotel was good and not as pricey as you would expect.

The service was very good. The front desk clerk actually charged my cellphone with his own personal charger on two occassions as I had forgotten mine at home. The hotel is very secure and you must show your room key at the door. Overall we had a nice stay and I would stay here again.

I had a lovely stay at the WAC. The hotel staff are very professional, and helpful. I love the atmosphere. There are so many things to do there without stepping outside the building. Everyone that works at the Wac really seem to like what they do and it shows. From the athletic facilities to the Spa,and wellness center,to the dining. The rooms are very comfortable, and reasonably priced. I highly recommend staying there sometime.

The WAC is primarily an athletic and social club with hotel (or "inn") rooms. The rooms are nice, although the bathrooms are somewhat small. The fitness facilities are excellent and much bigger and better, with a wider choice of weights and machines, than anything you could find in a regular hotel. The conditioning rooms (there are separate men's and women's, as well as coed) are very nice and the perfect size, not those huge cavernous rooms that make you feel like you're a gerbil on an exercise wheel in a factory.

I agree with another reviewer's comment that unloading and loading in front of the WAC can be problematic. Be careful when getting out on the passenger side because cars whiz by a little too close for comfort, especially during rush hour.

Dear Alaskatravel1234,

We're glad that you enjoyed your stay and especially that you enjoyed our athletic facilities. We will try to ensure that our doormen are more present to assist on the passenger side of cars when guests arrive. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
