We stayed in the villa at the beginning of July for a two week family holiday. We had never visited Croatia before and were pleased that the peninsula, the aquamarine sea, the seafood and the historical towns were all as lovely as people had said they would be. The beautifully renovated villa is very well equipped, very clean and comfortable with plenty of places to sit in shade or sun and relax in peace and quiet. A short walk away is the beautiful and quiet village of Broce with it's jetties which you can swim off or small stony beaches. We often caught the sunset down there with a picnic hamper and swimming things. No restaurants there so very quiet but for more life the lovely old town of Ston is a short and stunning 5 minute drive or half hour stroll across the salt pans. Climb the walls to Mali Ston on a cooler morning, it is worth it. Our favourite restaurant in Ston, was 'Stagnum' run by the very hospitable Ante and his wife. All our food in Ston and Mali Ston was fantastic very fresh and reasonably priced and for a bit of extra gastro fun try 'Gastro Mare' run by Antonio and his team at Kobas Bay. No menus and no prices and more expensive than normal for Croatia but 5 star food at a reasonable price compared with the equivalent in England in a lovely setting by the sea. Having travelled all over the peninsula and visited Dubrovnik which is a must, we decided the villa, Broce, Ston and Kobas were our favourite places and all on our doorstep. There are plenty of quiet secluded beaches to find if you want to explore. If you like to get away from the more bustling, touristy type of beach/villa holiday this Croatian experience is the place for you!

We had a lovely holiday at Villa Salome. The location is less than an hour from Dubrovnik and although close to Ston with restaurants, shops ( and the city walls to walk!) it is also only a five minute walk for a dip in the sea. We particularly enjoyed all of the outside space with plenty of space in both sun and shade and a big outside eating area under the veranda. My partner really loved cooking in the outside kitchen - makes barbecuing seem rather boring. We also loved the nearby beaches and local fishing villages with restaurants right on the water, although roads to the quietest beaches are not for the faint-hearted.
