Organising the stay for 16 people from the overseas was extremely easy thanks to the Front Desk Supervisor. The hotel offers fantastic newly furnished rooms, a hearty breakfast and ideally located close to Joshua Tree National Park. I would happily stay here again in the future. Once again, thank you for hosting all of us.

Everything was nice about this hotel. And they were currently embarking on some serious redecorating, so it's probably nicer now. Lots of extras in the rooms, good large space in the larger rooms. When we had a little medical incident (a smashed knuckle that required a ring being cut off), they found the necessary tool. When we left some things behind in the rooms, they were sent to us.

Room Tip: Suites in the second building were very nice size.

Easy check in and check out. A stack of free USA Today newspapers were sitting on the front counter. The room was clean, and I was upgraded free of charge from a queen to a king bed. Used the fitness center in the morning, and all the equipment worked. The complimentary breakfast had cheese omelets, a made to order waffle, fruit, yogurt, oatmeal, cereal, and juices. The only downside to my stay is that the walls of the buildings are paper thin, so the outside noise can easily be heard. Overall, my stay was enjoyable, and when I come back to the Twentynine Palms area, I will stay at this Best Western again.

We stayed at the Best Western Gardens Hotel in Twentynine Palms for one night on March 16, 2012. This was a good midpoint between Death Valley and San Diego via the Mojave and Joshua Tree. The Hotel is undergoing renovations and you can tell our room has recently been redone. The hallways were all freshly painted and they were about to install the carpeting.

We were met with cookies and water and thanked for being part of the Best Western reward program. Our room was nice and as I mentioned it had recently been repainted and the bathroom updated. It looked like they were doing that with all the rooms. They had a nice pool and a hot tub that was actually hot. We used the hot tub right before bed and that was just the ticket after a long day of driving and exploring the Mojave. They also have free breakfast that was more than just cereal and yogurt. There were eggs, breakfast sandwiches, bacon, and it looked like they had the capability for waffles.

The room had free wifi and a refrigerator and coffee maker…this made getting our day started easier. There was also a hairdryer. The window opened to let in fresh air, but they also had AC.

Two fun things to do if you stay there: The first is to drive out in the desert. Just past the hotel, the road turns into a series of dirt roads (no need for 4 wheel drive); most of these roads were even on my Garmin. It was cool to drive around out there and look at the plants and occasionally get out and check out what might be living in one of the holes. We went back out at night to get away from the light pollution and look at the stars. The second thing is to visit the Joshua Tree visitor center in the early evening to look for birds (only a couple of miles away.) There is a little oasis just past the visitor center with a short path (free). In less than an hour we saw more than a dozen species of birds including kestrels, Gambel’s quail, roadrunners, etc.

The only complaint we had was a large police dog training session that was going on at the hotel. The dogs were kept in a trailer at the end of our building and barked quite a bit in the early evening. Once we shut the window and turned on the AC, we could no longer hear them.

Room Tip: I liked being in the back buiding away from the main road.

Thanks for sharing details of your trip to our area. I hope that other visitors consider your great suggestions for entertaining activities in Joshua Tree National Park.

We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay at our hotel. We take pride in providing quality amenities such as high speed wireless internet, complimentary hot breakfast buffet and Wednesday night guest reception.

I apologize that the canine unit disturbed your stay. We attempted to balance every guests needs and believed that they were located where they would not disturb other guests. In the future, we will reevaluate the location of trailers for potential canine units on property.

Thanks again for visiting 29 Palms and Best Western Gardens.
Sincerely,
Jim Bowie
