Check in was quick efficient and friendly.
Room:
Our room on the 3rd floor was a good size. It's all typical Austrian, with lots of pine wood on the walls and cupboards. There was plenty of hanging space / draws etc. The double bed was comfortable, though a spare / extra pillow would have been nice. There was a sofa and chair. We had a small balcony (east facing room) which overlooked the hotel next door, with a small view of the mountain. South facing rooms looks over the valley.
The room was very hot at night, so we kept the balcony door open. The bathroom had double sinks, a bath with shower. Robes and slippers for wellness area were all provided.
No tea or coffee facilities if you want that. The Tv had variety of channels some English.
Overall the room was very nice comfortable room with excellent housekeeping. A little cooler at night would have helped.
Food / Restaurant
We were amazed and delighted how nice the food was. It's delicious. A minimum of 5 courses every evening. The wine / drinks menu offers a good variety, however the cheapest bottle of wine is €35. Breakfast is a help yourself style with lots of choice, all very tasty.
There is a small bar area with some seating overlooking the valley, and a real fire in the other corner. All the staff were very helpful and friendly.
Wellness
This is also well equipped. There is a small pool, Jacuzzi, seam and sauna. The sun loungers surround the indoor pool or overlook the valley. Very comfortable and nice after a day on the slopes. There is also a small gym and games room. When we were there it was nice and quiet most afternoons.
The boot room is a good size to store your skiing equipment / boots. We hired ours from the Riml Hotel next door.
The hotel also had a Tv room, and luggage storage room, which was handy as we had a late flight home so the hotel allowed us to use this and also the wellness facilities on the morning of our last day. Checkout was quite late though at 11am.
Location:
We were there for skiing and the hotel is very well located, 5 min stroll to the chair lift, across the hotel car park and up c50 steps to the lift. If you are there for skiing there are lots of blue runs, some red and black too.

There are no shops as such in Hockgurgl, you need to catch the bus to Obergurgl if you needed any provisions etc.
All in all a great holiday, friendly staff, lovely food. We have booked again for next year. !!

We were recommended by our ski coach, who was a local guy, to had lunch in the restaurant of the hotel in between our whole day class. Once getting in, already guessed it was of high quality and money for value, because there were a few local ski instructors eating either alone or with their students.
It did not disappointed us. Absolutely delicious ltalian cuisine with some local authentic dishes. Equally important, it offers good food and drinks in decent setting with price much less than we expected and lower than in Solden. We formed up our mind to stay in Obergurgl instead of Solden after patronizing this hotel restaurant if we have the chance to travel to the area again. So nice!

We have stayed here twice and booked for next year. Hochgurgl is a perfect location for skiing. The quality of the snow is very good. The hotel is excellent. The food is of the highest quality and the service in the restaurant, and generally, is of a high professional but personal and friendly quality.

At least our tenth ski holiday to Austria but first over Christmas and we found this real gem of a hotel (actually in Hochgurgl not Obergurgl). Christmas Eve was a real family affair with the staff & owners topped off with an amazing 7 course dinner. The food throughout from breakfast buffet to the varied dinner menus was fantastic coupled with a great wine list. The hotel location, furnishings and facilities are superb and it’s the ideal base for a skiing trip with zero hassle. What makes the hotel really stand out is the welcome and service from the staff and management - it really is a friendly family atmosphere where it was clear that many customers were there for repeat visits. We will join that list in the near future I’m sure. Highly recommended.
