Myself and 12 & 7 year old. Ski in / ski out. Good wholesome food, lovely hotel, excellent amenities to hand. Spa is a topper. Staff absolutely fantastic. Runs in resort excellent and access to the far larger Sölden town/piste with lift pass. A must for families. Enjoy xx

We have recently returned from a trip to Obergurgl as a party of 12 with 6 children ranging from 10-13.
We all had family rooms at the hotel Sportiv which were a good size, had everything you needed and were spotlessly clean. Certainly the rooms and indeed this hotel in general are a little dated from a decor point of view but this is forgiven easily when weighed against the warmth of the staff.
The lovely barman tirelessly entertained every child in the hotel in the evening with energetic games and he had them eating out of his palm!
The dining room staff were unfailingly pleasant and helpful and provided really useful local tips about the pistes too.
Breakfast was simple and standard European fare with a hot option too.
Dinner was plentiful and whilst I think it would be fair to say this is not haute cuisine, no one in our party left the table hungry.
The afternoon tea was probably our favourite meal - soup/sandwiches and delicious cakes were always welcome after a hard day on the slopes and in addition meant only a quick bite was needed at midday - more time on the slopes when the ski schools are at lunch!
The boot room which is directly linked to the hotel was the best we have ever seen- roomy, light, specific places for each rooms equipment and with direct access to the equipment shop
Whilst the hotel is ski in the last 50m of the piste ( bottom of a red) it was usually slightly slushy ( it was April) very churned up and not a lot of fun at the end of the day but it’s a very short stretch and it was passable if not always much fun.
There isn’t a slope that you can ‘ski out ‘ on but the festkogel cable car goes directly from the bottom of the slope next to the hotel with the 8km blue 6 accessible from the top
Ski buses stop directly in front of the boot room so drop off to ski school or popping across to Hochgurgl ( which is a must) couldn’t be easier.
The piece de resistance was the access to the crystal spa ( pop on the bathrobe and nip through the boot room to access).
It was a delight - there are specific family and separate adult areas ( adult areas were well worth braving the ‘no swimsuits’ rule for ) all our children loved the fact that they could use the steam room/sauna/wellness area as well as an indoor and an outdoor pool - we spent a couple of hours here before dinner most nights and this great facility really helped make our holiday special
In all the hotel Sportiv offers a welcoming friendly and comfortable stay, the glamour is provided by the spa!

This hotel may be older and in need of some refurbishment but this is a minor detail when compared to all the great things it has in its favour. First of all it’s perfect for families with children. In the evenings the barman Dalibor entertains all the children young and not so young. The hotel has full use of a well appointed boot room and is right next door to festkogelbahn. Ski in ski out. After a hard day on the slopes hit the spa. Children and adults have full use of the steam room, sauna, indoor and outdoor pools. There are separate facilities for adults too but you are required to go without swimsuits. Lots of people we spoke to come here year after year. The ski area itself benefits from joining with Hochgurgl and the ski pass allows you access to nearby Sölden too. Plenty to do for all abilities. Would highly recommend.

The hotel has a great location, but the interior is in need of a make over. there is a connection to the hotel crystal, and you can use all the facilities, but there is a huge difference between the two hotels. You can use the ski storage by the ski hire shop, which comes out just by the lift. the ski hire shop is within the hotel.

The rooms are ok, and the beds are comfy enough. It did get very warm, but the windows open fully if you need to cool down.

The food is ok. It's worth staying here on a budget for the location, as you still get to use the pool/ spa across the road.

This is our third visit to the Sportiv Crystal Hotel in Obergurgle. (Not to be confused with their sister hotel, the Crystal).
The advantages of staying at the Sportiv mostly relate to being given access to the Spa at the Crystal. It’s fabulous.
The staff at the Sportiv couldn’t be better. It’s just that they have to work in an environment that really needs an upgrade. The public areas are ok, insofar as they are traditionally Austrian. The food was mediocre with just a vegetarian choice on our package. Avoiding cod in the mountains, we ate in their restaurant one evening and it was very good.Bathrooms were clean, but with broken fittings. The bedrooms are poor and smell stale. Again, the staff do their best to improve the ambience with some towel art. Well done!
