While everyone headed to the beach, we spent our lovely summer holiday here with activities suitable for everyone. The hotel is very well adapted to children all age and the kiddy club has always an activity for the children. Indoor and outdoor pool were well enjoyed and food was delicious.

Room Tip: Select based on actual number of occupants including babies!!

What a lovely hotel to go as a family! We travelled with our 2y old boy for the Ironman event, and he had a blast.
The staff is very nice and extremely helpful, nothing we asked was too much.
The amenities very lovely, my son loved playing in the garden with the little car's and tricycles, the soft play area was great for him too to blow of some steam, up and down and down the slides. In the afternoon we went to the pool, lots of toys are laid out so you don't really need to bring any. There were also lots of toys in the sand play area as well. All the other toddlers where fun and Maxi loved to play with them while the parents chatted.
The rooms are nice and airy, we stayed in room Sonnberg, well appointed, separate bedroom for my son, and lots of little touches for the little one, even his own little bathrobe. Oh, I loved the mattress.
The cakes were great and they made fresh omelettes for breakfast. All-inclusive so our son could just go on snacking on apples, cookies, bananas, icecreams… all day long
We tried to use the nursery, which was set up very nicely but our son wanted nothing to do with it, so we did not use it on the end. We saw that there where lovely activities for the kids older than 3 as well, so next year we want to come back again.
If I had to mention anything negative it’s the wasps, apparently this year they have been bad in Austria and I got bitten. I taught my son to stay very still and he did very well and did not have any bites.
And as last, my son was totally in love with Pongo, the hotel mascot, he carries the little Pongo he got at check out everywhere with him!

We have a 2 year old and we finally took e plunge and booked a Kinderhotel for a long weekend. Our experience was mixed, the room was comfortably furnished, a bit dated but clean and user friendly. Our terrace was accessible by three suits, which was a bit disappointing from a privacy standpoint but was made even worse by the fact that there were smokers in both ajacent suits who spent their evenings outside smoking (so we not only didn't use the terrace, we also had to close the windows and take all our clothes inside). I have suggested to the hotel that they designate certain buildings as non-smoking (currently the policy is no smoking inside). We did love the access to bikes with child seats and hiking backpacks. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the games availed at the front desk. The pool areas, both outside and inside were rather small but perfect for a toddler. The adult only spa was nice, although my therapist was a bit too much of a sales person. The food was hit or miss, the breakfast buffet was fantastic, at lunch we mostly stuck to salad, dinner was great one night, the other two was ok, cakes and snacks were great. The best days were, spent hiking and biking. The area around Zell am See is beautiful and we will definitely go back, but probably rent a self catered place next time.

After many recommendations from friends and colleagues, we finally booked a week at the Kinder Hotel Zell am See at the start of the Easter holidays. We were warned that it would be the end of the season, and after a period of particularly warm weather, there would not be much snow left, but this did not stop us having one of the best family holidays we have had in a long time.

I have to start with a caveat that none of us are particularly good or experienced skiers, and therefore what proved to be perfect conditions for us (some snow, but higher up and also further away in Kaprun, plus warm sunshine at the hotel) might not suit everyone. Also the hotel was quite quiet, and therefore the overcrowding mentioned in some of the reviews here was not apparent.

The hotel itself we found exceptionally well-appointed and friendly. All the staff made a real effort with us all, and were always cheery and welcoming without being too 'in your face'.

Despite some of the comments here, we found the kids club to be exceptional, with a very large play area, separate games area and another separate reasonably sized soft play area. There was also a theatre used for plays and film shows in the evening, and another area for younger children. There was an additional area downstairs also for younger children, and the table tennis/pool/air hockey area.

On top of this was the spa area, where the pool was quite small, but there was an additional steam/sauna and chill-out area. This was the family spa, and therefore was really for the children - we had access to an adults only spa/pool area at the adjoining sister hotel which was great for when our children were in the club.

Being a kid friendly hotel there were lots of activities organised just for them, including football and hockey tournaments, magic and puppet shows, plus activities inside and out. There were kids bikes, trikes and cars to use, plus a reasonable outside playground and water feature. We have been to a number of child friendly hotels, and the facilities here had to be amongst the best. All the staff were very welcoming, and offered a very relaxed 'come and go as you please' policy with the club, unless we left the hotel, when they would ensure the kids remained within their care.

The only slight downsides we experienced was being end of season, and quiet, meant that their were fewer staff around, and sometimes we found ourselves having to wait at reception for someone to bring our key/packed lunch/etc. or serve drinks at the bar, but this was a minor and understandable quibble.

The food is also a bit hit and miss. Whilst the lunch, snacks and kids buffet were all of high quality, the items ordered off the adult menu in the evening were of varying quality. Some were delicious, others just weird. One of our best meals was the Saturday night buffet, which maybe they should stick to all the time, although ordering off a menu (even with limited options) did make it feel a bit more special.

Finally our family room was great. Two good sized separate rooms, a living area, and decent bathroom with shower. All clean with a simple alpine vibe. Again, the only slight quibble were the lack of any amenities, such as toiletries, cotton buddies, etc. that you would get in most other equivalent hotels.

So, in conclusion, we would definitely go back. Yes, it might be a different story at the hight of the season, but assuming there would be more staff on hand, I can't imagine it would be too much different. And as we found out a long time ago, if your kids are happy, then you are happy!

Room Tip: We had a downstairs room with a large outside area which was useful.

This is the fifth time we stay in a Kinderhotel in Austria and it has been the worst. All other experiences have been great, main issues with this were:
- check in is really messy with all people coming at the same time. We got no information about the hotel except the folders with some timetables
- our room was not ready at the time of check in and we needed to wait for about an hour before we could get in
- facilities for children are very limited, there is only 1 indoor play area that is relatively small, a table tennis and small kids club (where the monitoring activity happens), that's all.
- other activities include pool table, air hockey and ice skating, all paid ones
- the family / baby swimming pool is extremely small and gets really busy in the afternoon after ski lessons are finished. You can't find enough places to put your stuff and it is very noisy
- the day before checkout I asked for a late check out and the receptionist answered in a very rigid way "check out is at 11:00"
- when I was reviewing the bill I realized the wine we had during the last dinner was not included and asked the same receptionist to add it. She told me I should look for the waiter who took the order, ask him to input it in the system, wait for 10 min and come back. I ended up paying cash at the restaurant.

What is good:
- food, however simple selection and a chef who really likes rosemary
- location close to the place where kids have ski lessons (10 min walk)

In summary, very below average Kinderhotel compared with all others we have been before. The value you get for what you pay is definitely NOT worth. We will not return.

Dear HDarcori,

Thank you for the Tripadvisor review.
We really appreciate all feedback.

I can see we never managed to get it right on your last visit. Excellent customer service is something we strive to achieve here at the Novotel and I'm sorry we never got it right for you this time around.
