“Mardi Gras Time...Again!”
Reviewed 16 March 2012

I have been coming to Mardi Gras for the past dozen years. Yes, it can be an expensive venture. This is what I have learned to expect when I travel at this peak time. And for the past 5 years I have stayed at the La Quinta. The hotel is definitely overpriced for Mardi Gras, but you get comfort and relaxation after your booze-filled nights on Bourbon Street. And the walk to & from Bourbon Street/French Quarter is very short. The hotel price also includes a wholesome Continental breakfast. The breakfast isn't extravagant, but filling enough to cut your breakfast budget. The maids are very accommodating as well during this time, offering later than normal turn-over service.

Room Tip: Make sure the door is shut when you enter/leave your room. Had to slam our door shut every time.

We stayed in La Quinta Inn and Suites in New Orleans for 4 nights. We loved it! The price was reasonable and the location was perfect - within walking distance of all the attractions: French Quarter, Casino, WWII Museum, Superdome, etc. In fact, we only took a cab once and that was back to the airport. The location is safe and the complimentary breakfast was one of the best we've seen for a hotel in this price range. We had a leak in our room and they immediately moved us to a new room. The only downside to the hotel is that the walls are thin, so you can sometimes hear people talking.

This was one of the cheaper hotels in the area. I booked a "King bed room with sofa" for 2 nights at a total of $325.42 (Thurs. and Fri. AAA rate) and they gave me a king wheelchair accessible room (we aren't handicapped) with no sofa. I was told that was the only non-smoking room available. The shower was wheelchair accessible and had a very short curtain. The water would just flood the floor of the bathroom. The mini fridge was warm. I don't think it was on at all. The mattress was super firm. Some people like this, not me. The carpet felt damp but it may have been the high humidity. They don't have an airport shuttle. The treadmill in the fitness room was broken. I did not use the pool but it looked nice.
I liked the free breakfast and free WiFi. I would NOT have wanted to stay in this particular room for more than a couple days though.

Room Tip: It would be wise to make certain you are getting what you booked. Mid week is nearly half the price...

I have stayed at this location twice - once for 2 nights before a cruise in 2010, and another for 1 night on a road trip in late 2011. We are fans of La Quinta and this is an excellent property - one of the more updated and contemporary ones. Parking is valet only, but the charge is on par with other hotels and lots in the area. There is a short 1 block walk to the French Quarter. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and each time the staff has been very helpful and friendly. Not the place to stay if you're looking for a view or to be in the heart of the Quarter, or if you expect luxury. But really, if you're in New Orleans, why would you want to stay in the hotel the whole time anyway?

The location of this property is the best if you are looking for a weekend to enjoy both the F.Q. and the WW2 Museum and don't mind a little walking. Easy to get in and valet parking not much more that parking independently. The rooms were clean and comfortable but nothing exceptional. Coffee maker and free internet as all hotels SHOULD have. No in-room safe but the front desk has individual lock boxes for no charge. The breakfast is mainly continental light fare. A storage area is available to keep your luggage for that last N.O. meal after check-out. Will definitely stay again.
