We had the breakfast sandwich on a croissant that was very large, hot and delicious. Nice to sit in the courtyard and enjoy live piano music while eating. 2 thumbs up.

I guess you can't come to New Orleans without trying a beignet. I am certainly glad we made this stop and had a still warm beignet. I really didn't know what to expect, but it was very good and still warm.

Wonderful Cafe. Nice decor. Beignets were delicious. I think better than Cafe du Monde. Found this on our last morning in New Orleans. Would have gone there everyday. Coffee was very good as well. Safe was friendly. Additional choices for those who do not want beignets. Blueberry scone was delicious as well. Relaxing atmosphere with music. Not the hectic vibe of Cafe du Monde.

Be sure and try out all three locations, each is a different distinctive decor. The 600 Decatur Street location is beautiful at night and has a great bar manager.

If you like beignets and some jazz music with your meal, then this outdoors cafe in the heart of the Bourbon Street action may be for you. Beignets are a French dish which consists of dough that's been pounded and then served with a sprinkling of confectioners sugar. They don't seem to be baked at all. To me, beignets are not tasty or otherwise appealing though they are extremely popular in New Orleans for breakfast.

Cafe Beignet is literally in a "can't miss" location in the heart of Bourbon Street, just three blocks east of Canal. So you are bound to encounter it if you go to the French Quarter. The Cafe also serves good coffee as well as traditional breakfast dishes. I had eggs and andouille sausage, a New Orleans favorite; they tasted very good. At about 10 a.m. or so a jazz trio began playing. This group was most enjoyable. Give them a donation when they pass the hat.

By mid-morning, all the many tables were occupied though more chairs could have been used because quite a few of the tables had spots where the sun shone through the canopy which covered most of the dining area, making sitting uncomfortable because you have to squint your eyes. Nevertheless, this is a popular place. Breakfast will be about $10 plus coffee. Beignets are two for three dollars. The restaurant has relatively fast service considering its noticeable popularity, and the place is clean.

Finally, the biggest attraction of Cafe Beignet is that it is an excellent beignet alternative to Cafe du Mond, the enormous, old café right on Jackson Square which must have ten times the seating capacity of Cafe Beignet and a hundred times the waiting period to get a table. Cafe du Mond may have the history in New Orleans for beignets but the wait to get to it is not worth it, in my opinion.

You can spot Cafe Beignet by looking for the statutes of three prominent jazz musicians from the past, placed right at its entrance on Bourbon Street.
