Cafe Du Monde is everything you expect it to be. It’s crowded. It’s full of tourists. The beignets are hot and sugar coated. The coffee is sweet and creamy.

If you have not tried the beignets here you should . Cafe Du Monde is an institution in New Orleans. My grandma was from here and she always talked about this place when she was a little girl. She also always drank French market, chicory coffee, and tried to feed it to me. As a child, I was less resistant to its interesting flavor.

So while you are here, you should also try their chicory coffee.

Locals will tell you there’s another place that has better beignets, but I have to be honest. They’re not better. They’re just different.

Definitely make this a place that you stop during your tour of New Orleans .

Excellent service despite an incredibly busy (and sometimes cranky) mix of tourists, and maybe a few locals. So glad our food tour guide from the previous day warned us about the dangers of the powdered sugar! To say we were wearing it was an understatement🤣 Yes, it’s busy and noisy, but so are all iconic travel experiences! Do yourself a favour and dunk the beignets!

If you are in downtown New Orleans for any reason, you MUST eat here. I don't care if you're on a diet, it doesn't matter. You cannot be in the area and pass up the opportunity to try some of Cafe Du Monde's heavenly beignets. To come to New Orleans and not try Cafe Du Monde beignets is a mistake you will regret for a long time. The beignets are just that good.

The experience of eating here is all you want from New Orleans as a tourist in a nutshell: a fresh, delicious, and generous helping of beignets, amazing street performers, and eating outdoors on one of the most popular and historic streets in New Orleans. Please do yourselves a favor and eat here. You'll be glad you did!

Everything I dreamed it would be!! Yummy beignets and amazing coffee!! We came at night for dessert and the next morning for breakfast, it was THAT good! Can’t wait to come back!

Total tourist trap but totally worth it. The service is super fast. We went there for dessert after dinner and there was no wait and lots of tables open. We went back a second time for a mid-afternoon snack and tables open.
