It’s a beautiful place to walk and to eat. All the historic homes are stunning! Download a map from Big Boy Travel for a self-guided tour. We went to Archie Manning’s house and were amazed at the fact that he did not have security in the front. The gate to the driveway was even open. We could have walked up to his house and knocked on the door. A kind couple even directed us to his house. Be aware of the streets and sidewalks. They are uneven and can cause falls if not careful.

It's fun to walk around in the Garden District and see the beautiful homes. Also of note - right on the edge of Jackson Street is a great sandwich place - Turkey and the Wolf - that is a not to miss on any visit to New Orleans.

Walked around this neighborhood after visiting the Lafayette cemetery. Gorgeous 2 and 3 story homes, covered in New Orleans culture. The residents who we net were more than friendly! Great stroll to take. Be sure to stop the Avenue Pub for a quick bite and drink!

Time spent on St. Charles, whether it be on foot, in a car, or on the street car is quite impressive. The day we were there it was quite crowded because of some major movie shoot, with all of the attendant big rigs full of equipment and crew. That meant that traffic flowed more slowly, which allowed for gawking at the fabulous homes.
