“It's the little things that matter”
Reviewed 25 December 2013 for a stay in December 2013

We enjoyed three days of R and R in New Orleans, exploring the French Quarter and beyond. The house is located in a quiet area within easy walking distance of the French Quarter. Our room was spacious and elegant; however, it was unbearably hot. The heating system in the house needs attention. I finally shut off the heat so that we could sleep comfortably. Our host was very accommodating, though he did not live on premises. Breakfast was advertised as something to look forward to but was too casual for our taste.

While we thank the guest for taking the to comment on his/her recent stay in New Orleans, it's obviously frustrating to read such a review. Let's face it...most of our reviews are "excellent" on TripAdvisor and to get anything less is disappointing.

I'm glad the location met with the guest approval. In fact, we think it's pretty perfect to be situated between Frenchmen Street and the bars of Bourbon Street, right at the edge of the French Quarter. Even when it's unseasonably cold or hot outside, it's a quick walk to hundreds of attractions, restaurants and bars.

During unseasonable cold, of course, it's more difficult to regulate heat. We have excellent heater/AC units which are two years old. We will make sure that we do a better job of explaining how to set temperatures correctly when we expect these 30 degree nights. Luckily, there aren't many here!

Our breakfast menu is generally "cook to order" so the food is hot and guests enjoy conversation along with their food at either at our breakfast bar or at a private table. Perhaps this guest wanted something formal? We've never advertised such so I'm unsure where the disconnect lies. In fact, we get lots of "oh my gosh, this was great!" comments each week so there are no plans to tweak breakfast service.

Sometimes, properties aren't great fits with guests and it's unfortunate that this is such a situation. We wish the guests better luck on their next visit to NOLA!

If you want a real NOLA experience this is the place to stay! This house is close enough to the craziness of the busy part of Bourbon without being smack dab in the middle of it.The owners are very knowledgeable about the city and can help you with anything you need. And then make delicious breakfast!

Thanks for such a great review! Guests were in town with friends for a weekend of celebrating and football. Saints happened to win while these Carolina folks were here, but they repaid our team two weeks later in Charlotte! :-) It's great to have repeat guests in house, as we often do, and we appreciate their comments.

“Quiet Respite amongst the hustle of Nawlins”

This place served as our headquarters for a recent visit to NOLA. This is an excellent location between the French Quarter and the Frenchman Street scene. This puts you within walking distance of many tourista locales but you are also moments away from the solitude provided by this place. This place feels more like staying with good friends who open their doors to accommodate your needs. The breakfast each day was very tasty. The hosts' staff complement
the facility. I would return again when visiting this wonderful town, but would also bring a bar of real soap the next time. Not a fan of liquid soap ;^{

Thanks for such nice comments! Our location is top-notch and "quiet respite" is a great way to describe it.

We do use liquid soaps for environmental reasons. Also have a couple of bar soaps on hand, just in case, so next time just ask and we'll gladly add some to your room!

Thanks again for staying with us and for sharing the word about La Maison Marigny.

“Great B&B in Marigny”

My girlfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights and had a really great time. The house is in a perfect location- really close to the amazing Frenchman Street and other cool places in the fun, laid-back Marigny neighborhood; but also a short walk to the craziness of the French Quarter. The owner, John, is a super nice guy who who made us some delicious breakfasts while regaling us with amusing stories of his life and travels. The room itself was very clean and comfortable- pretty much everything we could've asked for.

We're so glad you enjoyed your Bourbon Street visit! I try to be personable in the morning....as everyone knows, it's not always easy but I try! Glad I was able to keep you entertained as well as informed. :-) It's always nice to hear such comments and I'll be sure to pass on the cleanliness props to Joi and Thyago!

After much research, this was the place we wanted to stay. Our host, John, was gracious and accommodating with short notice. Our wish list for a place to stay in New Orleans was met, it included: romantic bed & breakfast in the French Quarter, yet quiet and peaceful, easy walk to Bourbon nightlife and Frenchman Street, private courtyard and a balcony room overlooking Bourbon Street. Breakfast was made for us by John, he made us feel welcome, we could have talked to him all day! We are so glad we stayed here!
