Dear readers,
The streets are very lively and interesting.
Everywhere restaurants and coffee shops.
The only negative side was we went by night and everywhere big garbage bags standing around and the streets were not clean.
Best wishes,
Petra

It’s an interesting place to visit. There are shops, food, and galleries. Bourbon St. at night is a little crazy, but other streets are fine. I highly suggest not driving through the area since the streets are narrow and pedestrians litter the street. There are homeless people on the street, but they are basically harmless. Just be aware of your surroundings at night.

I don't go in for the night scene on Bourbon Street anymore--except for accessing one of the restaurants off or near Bourbon Street. Royal Street and Jackson Square during the day are by far more fun. The street musicians are great on Royal in the early afternoon. Cafe du Monde is great any time of day.

The French Quarter is a classic area! From restaurants, bars, and fun clubs, this place rocks! Don't limit yourself to Bourbon Street. Walk around and check this place out. Better yet take a walking tour with Historic New Orleans tours. They rock and so does this place. Enjoy but don't over indulge!

You have to go, but I recommend taking a self guided walking tour from a guide book. Avoid Bourbon Street and seek out the historic houses and villas. For sure go to Jackson Square and get the picture of the cathedral, but move on, there's a lot more history to see. You can also take in the Louis Armstrong park too, which is worth a visit.
