You have to go to the French Quarter, but seeing it more than once is kind of over-kill. I️ try to get off the beaten-path and see more of the city — just be careful, y’all!

Our hotel was in the French Quarter and it's fine as a base from which to see the city, but if you're not planning to drink yourself into oblivion and don't want to be around those who are, I suggest you stay away from Bourbon Street after 5pm.

Bourbon, Canal, Royal, Decatur, Chartres, St. Peter and other famous streets. Mostly consisting of little shops, restaurants, and vendors. Lots of outside musical entertainment. Most of the restaurants are expensive. The streets are very narrow and not so clean. It is a place to be careful walking around, but it is New Orleans!

So this was cool because it had a lot of different food vendors, and the other half was all clothes and knick knacks. Since a flea market was on my Fall To-Do list, it was something worth checking out.

I love the French Quarter. My husband and I make a point to visit the French Quarter annually and this last October, I took my mom for her first time. The people are friendly, the shops are great, the food is amazing and some of the drinks you can get are heavenly. I would highly recommend you visit the French Quarter and try a few things. I am not a fan of Bourbon Street but do recommend you go at least once to see it.
