Just returned from my 12th year in NOLA with Habitat for Humanity. We work hard, but always spend Sunday or Saturday in the French Quarter. Walking and shopping the French Market or looking at the art in Jackson Square with a Bloody Mary in hand. There is some there for everyone, no matter what your tastes.

Part of Bourbon Street is under construction which makes getting around difficult but if you are in New Orleans you have to go. There is a fun vibe, lots of great restaurants and bars and lovely shops.

Be sure to wearing comfortable walking shoes and see, smell and observe all that encompasses the French Quarter. Definitely do not try to drive through, streets are narrow, and there is too much to see to really get a "feel' for the quarter.

If you like being surrounded by lots of people drinking and carousing - this is a good place to go. I have outgrown it!
