"I've been runnig, skiing and walking the Arboretum for over 30 years . The staff is great and the types of tree and plants are fantastic. A must see in all seasons.

We went after the Visitor Center and only walked the prairie (a-b). Most trails are gravel roads; some are tiny grass trails and at times we were walking on planks. All same plants and weeds. It would be peaceful if not for the constant traffic noise in the background. Visitor Center area has tables and chairs and there's a kid area too. Pets not allowed.

Go during spring and summer for a meadow of beautiful flowers. Great spot for a nice walk in nature.

The Arboretum is beautiful any time of the year. Keep in mind that if you are driving, the road is blocked at the visitor center, although bikes and pedestrians are allowed to continue through. Such a peaceful place within the city limits.

We were able to park on the grounds for free and by then some of the city stress was already being shed. The prairie meadows were at full height, a butterfly outdoor class taking place, and we had multiple choices for a hike in or out of the sun and in various lengths. Clean restrooms, a staffed front desk and a gift shop focused on books and nature items. Seems to have a large contingent of volunteers and I could feel that love.
