A good hotel with good staff but really in the middle of nowhere with very little to do. Only really good for an overnight stay. The drinks were expensive and I found it really odd to be served cold port that had been kept in the fridge. The dinner buffet was impressive for selection but sadly most hot meals eg curries were just luke warm in the Bain Marie’s. The rooms are nice with a good size bathroom. I loved the little manicured garden that our room lead out onto. Personally, I think it would be better to stay in the town of Nuwara Eliya. The Grand Hotel is in a good location with beautiful grounds.

Dear Bolynn,

The Blackpool Hotel seamlessly combines the contemporary and conjugal craftsmanship with a philosophical appreciation for the ecological environment.

We are focused on sustainable tourism and as a result we encourage environmentally friendly features in the Hotel. Glass water bottle, freshly ground tea, fresh milk are the few of the many features that adorns the Hotel.

The Show Kitchen which is accessible to all diners during major meals is also the cynosure of the guests.

This open Kitchen concept facilitates guests to walk in to the Kitchen in order to serve food mainly from the Grill and the Action corners.

It also serves as twofold entertainment, one to walk in to the kitchen in order to serve the food and besides enjoy the sensations of the Culinary section.

The above only illustrates that the Hotel is vibrant with character and many guests have appreciated the same. Please do come again to enjoy the ambiance you have surprisingly missed on your stay at The Blackpool Hotel.

We wish you long life, happiness and peace.

With best regards,

We stopped here on a private tour, on a meal inclusive basis. Everything was fine, but the hotel lacked 'warmth' - we didn't feel 'welcomed'. I'm not sure why - was it something we did? That said, check-in was smooth and we did get a nice cup of hot chocolate when we got to our room.

Our room was spacious and comfortable. All the facilities worked, including the free wifi - after a bit of faffing around with logging on.

Our package included meals and the evening buffet was spectacular. Full marks to the chefs. There were a good selection of curries, but there were alternative selections too - including sushi starters!

We didn't try the pool, which was directly outside our room as it was quite cool at the time. The hotel is some way from Nuwara Eliya, but we did venture out into the surrounding tea plantations for a walk, which we'd recommend.

Overall, this hotel was fine for our tour stopover and the food was excellent, but I wouldn't choose it as a 'destination'.

We had a night here recently. Whilst the staff were friendly the place was needing some tlc. Room very small especially the bed. Strangely we had a gas fire in the room. We ordered off a la carte menu for lunch and dinner, though food ok portions were minuscule so much so when we queried our Sri Lankan Curry we both ordered the little clay dishes contained hardly enough for one person, which we challenged the waiter if it was for 1 or 2 he actually admitted it was a one portion, in the end the manager apologised and refunded the meal which really wasn’t what we wanted as we were hungry but we were too far from anywhere to go to another place to eat.
We were glad to leave.

We arrived here after seeing the various points of interest in the city of Nuwara Eliya. It is a surprised since, as I said, it is a good-size modern hotel in a small rural area. There is a lot of tea grown in the area and locals cultivate the most well kept gardens for vegetable. Rooms are great. Service was excellent. There is a swimming pool, a large bar / meeting floor and the pleasant dining room. There was a great buffet for all tastes and a enormous dessert spread. The hotel is located close to the local village and we walked down to it talking as best we could to the people in the area. Their vegetable gardens are unbelievably well manicured.

Room Tip: Those looking down on the village are the most appealing.
