Bali family accommodation

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 3 weeks agovia mobile
Great family hotel we booked an adjoining room which was great was able to keep one room until 5pm for $50 additional cost. Great location opposite beach. Lovely staff. Rooms a little dated but very comfortable, air conditioning great. Great value for money. Would definitely stay here again in the future.
Date of stay: November 2024
Room Tip: Drink at the beach bars much cheaper than hotel bar
Trip type: Travelled with family

We travelled to bali end Oct early Nov 2024 for my husband's 40th birthday and to finally introduce our 2 youngest to our beloved BALI! We were able to secure a 1 bedroom apartment via private booking at the Residential Jayakarta building to the left of the resort as you first enter. This apartment was budget friendly & on the ground floor of the building and close to the residential reception area. We were under no illusions that this was anything but 3.5 star. We were not disappointed at all. Our kids slept on sofa beds (15 & 8) we had the king bed which was so comfortable! I have paid a lot of money in a lot of villas in the past for beds nowhere near as comfy as this one. We had a full sized fridge, plus bath & pool towels for our stay. The Room had the BEST aircon I have ever experienced in Bali in our 11 trips! Our kids complained it was too cold but because we are from Darwin where its hotter than Bali all year round, we told them to enjoy it while it lasted!! The room was maintained every 2 days, which suited us well as we were out on tours most days. We had full use of the 3 pools (plus a very cute plunge spa!!) on the Jayakarta grounds and never once felt like we were not welcome because we booked privately. They have a spa and gym, gift shop and a few restaurants. There is also transport everywhere drivers sit inside the Resort if needed, and scooters line up out the front.
The residential rooms are at the front of the Jayakarta resort therefore its a bit of a walk to get to the pools BUT it's a beautiful walk and not at all hard if you are even remotely walking capable. I love the location of the apartments as they are right at the gate, easy to get to some great cafes in the morning, Coffee Cutters was awesome for early morning coffee (opens at 6am). I also loved the fact that there are some awesome bars in the area so at night time we could listen to the live music from our room until 11.30pm which was fun. Some nights we sat out the back and had our own little quite sing along. Some nights we went to the bars and sang along loudly haha! Such good fun.
The beach is right out the other side of the pools LIKE RIGHT THERE! So good! My son was so excited! Looks like they have done a lot of work on a decent walking track now too.
There is also a brilliant hair braider right next to the pool near the beach entrance within the Jayakarta, she is a really lovely lady and had us all braided up the morning we arrived (best price too). Jayakarta have a great swim up bar with delicious cocktails & COLD fresh coconuts!! Delicious.
They have a BBQ Corn shack! Next to the pool at the beach entry and for $2 it was the BEST! I didn't have to leave the resort to enjoy 5 of my most favorite things about bali being bbq corn, swim up bar, fresh cold coconut juice, squirrels & gorgeous bali gardens.
We only ate at the Buffet one morning, it was fine, probably not one we would go to again but if you just want a quick bite it's good enough. There are so many good café's and restaurants in the area we enjoyed spreading the love around keeping the economy going.
They had a foam party in the main pool for the afternoon of Halloween which was really cool! The kids had the best time.

Room tip: Don't expect 5 star. Be happy you are in Bali :)

A lovely hotel Don't get me wrong it's not the Hilton, but you're not paying anywhere near those prises either! Gardens a beautifully kept and all commercial areas are spotless. Didn't really rate the Indonesian buffet night food but the authentic Bali dancing was a real pleasure to watch! Room was ok, Aircon worked fine and when we did need maintenance they were at our room in 5 minutes. I'd stay there again anyway.

Room tip: Drinks are cheaper in town

Just returned from our first stay at the Jayakarta bali beach resort.
We stayed 11 days in a one bedroom apartment and loved every minute! The staff are very friendly, the grounds are beautiful. Right across the road from the beach. Great restaurants and shopping close by.
Check-in was smooth. The only thing is I requested a room on one of the higher floors and we got ground floor. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise because we didn't have to climb any stairs to get to our room! It had patio out the back with two chairs and a table. We were closest to the fence to the hotel next door, so it seemed very private and secluded.
Yes, the apartment is old but it was more than adequate for us. The rooms are cleaned daily. The room has two air conditioners, one in the bedroom and one in the loungeroom. They are cold!! We turned one of them off and only had one running the whole time. It kept the room cold enough for us. Towels are changed daily if required.
The shower is in the bath, which is a bit of a pain at first but you get used to it. Water pressure is great.
The apartment has a small kitchen with microwave and bar fridge. Not sure what else as we didn't use it, there are too many great places to eat nearby!
Bed seems huge. The mattress is firm not soft. I could have requested a mattress topper but did not bother.
No safe in the room. Security boxes are kept at reception. The process is easy.
Money change at hotel. Rates are comparable. They are safe and trustworthy. Friendly too 😄
There are three pools, two close to each other by the restaurant. One has a swim-up bar. The other has a kids shallow pool attached. The other one we didn't use at all so I have no comment.
Pool bar was "louder" for 2 of our 11 days. It's what I expect from a swim-up bar, people sitting around chatting, drinking, dancing, enjoying themselves. It did not annoy us and if you want a swim-up bar a bit of fun goes along with it. The music
There are plenty of loungers around the pool, but only a few have umbrellas. There is no other shade. The tiles around the pool get hot and VERY slippery. Wear slides/shies to pool edge and don't run. Extra careful walking around the pool area that is wet.
Themed buffet style dinners were worth the $17.50 (aussie) per person. No tax on this amount, that is all you pay Unlimited food and great options. 3 of our 11 nights we had buffet dinner.
Breakfast was included and also a good selection. Bacon, egg station, toast, pastries, Indonesian selection, salad, fruits, cereal, yoghurt, pancakes, waffles, tea, coffee, water and juice.
THE LOCATION IS AMAZING beach right outside the front gate. Walk across to the many beach bars, sit on a beanbag with a bintang and watch the sunset and fireworks.
We will be back to the Jayakarta in 2025. It is an older style hotel but great value for money.

Room tip: Not much shade around pools. Pool area tiles are hot and slippery

Arrived with all big expectations for our 1 bedroom residence that we booked with walkin shower we went to reception to checkin a few people in the line 3 receptionist working.Overhearing lady and her son that she called a head asking if her room would be ready on checkin as her son was sick. But was told it wasn't and would have to wait. Our turn after initial paperwork we were told our room would be ready in about in 15min as we were early we waited. After 15 mins we were told our room was available in the residence building at the top of resort near security gate and main road.On opening door room had not been cleaned still used coffee cups on bench beds not made and bathroom still dirty. We told porter we were not taking that room we went back to reception as another guest was complaining about the same building that the hallway was dark and the rooms dark and felt unsafe. On returning to reception we were told that's there only 1 bedroom residence with walkin shower which we thought was unacceptable and said to her we will take a room with bath as didn't want to wait any longer for the room to be cleaned as could not tell us how long that would take. So we were given another room the opposite building near security gates and main road the porter would not bring our bags to room until we agreed it was cleaned an we would take it it was cleaned to there standard so we took room 4601. The room is dark and not been updated since the 70s (see pics) broken cupboards old bathroom. We were told on checkin no safes in rooms, but there were security boxes at reception, which we found strange that in 2024, they could not put safes in rooms. The resort grounds are beautifully kept and maintained. The buffet breakfast is basic but acceptable very little change over the 5 days we were here. Pools are all good but close at 6pm which for family with kids seems early and when we needed a pool towel after pool closed we asked reception if we can get a towel and we were told there a towel in your room an told her our room is at front of hotel she still insisted towel in room no help. Back of resorts is close to beach which is great for views of the sunset and to have a drink while watching the sunset but alot of hawkers trying to sell you something. Restaurants are open till late but very slow on service. On closing we were dissapointed on the way reception staff handles anything and do not know what rooms are cleaned before sending guest to there rooms no communication. Just wish they would concentrate on the maintaining of rooms as they do with the grounds which are immaculate. The hotel is close to shops and restaurants and bars and the beach. The front of house staff need more training with customer service but rest of hotel staff are very welcoming. But don't put the survey in as the box has not been emptied for months as one i can see is dated 26/3/24.

My eternal thanks to the staff at Jayakarta resort. After a fall on the beach opposite the hotel the staff helped get my daughter back to the resort and staff member Suardika and a hotel driver got us to the hospital. The hotel had a wheelchair onsite which we were able to use until I could hire one.
A great location and good food choices but the staff kindness was the winner.
