The Lake Burunge Tented Camp was our best accommodation in 11 days of safari in Tanzania.
It is located very nicely at the lakefront of Lake Burunge, a little remote, but surrounded by nature and with a very nice view. The tents felt more like bungalows, with a wooden substructure and regular bathrooms, a small patio outside and all comfort from a regular Lodge. It was also possible to charge mobile phones or cameras in the room but only during certain hours.
Dinner and breakfast was served on a large patio with view of the lakeside, where also a small pool was located. Underneath the patio were small water basins, tempting wildlife to come closer to the Lodge - when we swam in the pool, a few Zebras were grazing just in front of us which was a really special experience.
Food was good, partly served and partly buffet, and what we also liked was that in the morning one could define what to take for the lunch box (so not the pre-arranged typical stuff what we partly got at other places).
All was very clean and we felt very safe. After dinner we were accompanied by a guard to our tent to avoid any unpleasant encounter with wildlife, and the starlight and birdsongs in the morning were fantastic.
Drive to the main entrance gate into the Tarangire National Park (which is a wonderful park with lots of elephants!) took around 45-60 minutes, but there is also a smaller entrance closer-by which is accessible during certain times.

This was our first stop off on our trip to the Serengeti, we were only there for one night. Nice balcony to sit on and relax after
travelling all day but didn’t get a view from it. However the next morning we were visited by couple of dik diks. Just a pity we arrived a little late to use the pool which looked lovely. Food good and dining area is nicely set out, a very comfortable stay,

Lake Burunge Tented Camp is situated near the Tarangire National Park. It is a permanent camp site with lobby and dining facilities. The facilities are beautiful but the staff make the difference. Naming just a few: Jackilyn; Mishi (one of my favorites); Pascal (Maasai); Shaban; Jerry; Joshua; Jenepher Lopez (Yep - "J Lo"); Mary; Adela; Patricia; Pascal (Iraq tribe); Chutara (Muha) and Dafrosa.
Tanzanian people are among the humble, kind and giving people in the world. Their intent is not to make a lot of money but to serve in an open and honest way. They saw to all of our needs and always with a pleasant, greeting smile.
This was my third time back to Lake Burunge Tented Camp and it never fails to please me and make me want to come back again. On top of that, they added a pool!!!

Room tip: Closer to the food, the better.

It would have been worth staying longer, than the one night we had there. Very friendly and helpful staff - I left my duty free and it was returned to me later at another camp - THANK YOU! Very good food selection. Nicely spaced tents and amazing birdlife to watch from your own veranda. Great communal area setting, which a genet likes to call home. Pool and al fresco dining area overlooks the wildlife. I would love to return.

Room tip: Recommend waking early (pre 6.30am) to listen to the fantastic dawn chorus from your own veranda

very nice place.
there are ground based "bird baths" - or maybe just small concrete waterholes just off the deck of the main lodge area. these are neat - as there are plenty of local birds and game that use them (Zebras, impala, etc).
food and service were good. everyone was very nice.

the only issue for me was the 55 minute drive to the gate at Tarangire NP. we were lead to believe it was a 10 minute drive to the gate - but I guess the closer gate has bad teetsie flies and doesn't get used. so we spent far to much time in the car getting to and from the park.

there is a nice short walk down to the lake (need to walk with a staff/guide member) that is worth taking.

internet and power were both good.
