This was our 15th year of vacationing at Bearskin Lodge, and it seems to get better every year. We vacationed there for a week in February, and no matter how much or how little snow the rest of Minnesota receives, there is always plenty at Bearskin, partly because of the elevation. The trails are expertly groomed, with a wonderful variety ranging from easy to very challenging. For variety, there is a snowshoe trail, an ice rink for skating or broomball, and dogsled rides with a musher who lives in a tipi on the lake in the winter. Of special note this year were the two meals we had at the lodge. Both were terrific, and a very good value. Compliments to both of the chefs. We had enough leftovers from Pasta Night on Tuesday to have another meal later in the week. Over the years, we have stayed in the Lodge, and in a number of the cabins, and every unit is warm and comfortable, with a well-outfitted kitchen for meal prep. We love relaxing in front of the fireplace in our cabin in the evening, but have to say that one of our favorite parts of a trip to Bearskin Lodge is the daily trip to the Hot Tub Hus. Each cabin or lodge unit reserves their own private time, so you can relax those muscles after an energetic day of skiing. The owners Bob and Sue McCloughan and their staff are very friendly and welcoming. It's a perfect winter get-away.
