What a hidden gem!

As a birthday present I decided to take a trip to see the aurora borealis for my s/o. I did the research, you've got the best chance of seeing it between 11pm-2am on a clear dark night (best times are around september and march).

When we got to the cabin it had a balcony that was PERFECT for this. it made it easy to see the northern lights over the short boreal forest. The property was gorgeous, right on the river! It was also only 15-20 min away from a wonderful brewery/restaurant, which was also a distance outside of town, and then an hour away from the Chena hot springs.

The cabin itself was cozy and warm (they also had a wood burning sauna 40' outside the door). The bed was plush, very soft sheets (some of the best sleep I've gotten in a while)... They also had fresh locally roasted coffee, yum!

Sourdough Cabin was perfect for us as we were celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniv and the cabin surpassed all of our expectations! The cabin was a true log cabin and decorated beautifully! The bed was soooooooooo comfortable and the grounds were gorgeous! We picked raspberries off of our deck! Our hosts provided our Gold panning gear and we had a Blast at Pedro Mine site. We enjoyed the Howling Dog Saloon, Silver Gulch Brewery, Chena Pump House Restaurant and Chatanika Lodge for dining and music. The North Pole and Tanana Valley Farmers Market are great stops too for Alaskan souveniers and foods. We LOVED Fairbanks and hope to return again soon! God Bless!

This was my first trip to Fairbanks and Alaska. Debi & Bruce made us immediately feel like family & right at home. The house was perfect. There were 5 staying (including 2 teenagers), and there was plenty of comfortable space for all of us. We could entertain our friends comfortably, too. A little off the beaten path, but definately worth the drive for the peacefulness & beauty. We could have spent our entire vacation sitting on the deck, relaxing, and watching the activity on the river. I can't wait to go back, and would stay with them again!

We stayed in the Chinook Cabin from 2/27/10 to 3/4/10. The cabin was wonderful. It was a home-away from home. Warm, clean, comfortable and relaxing. Debi and Bruce were very helpful and accommodating. The cabin provided much more than we were expecting, plus it's in a great location. Located east of downtown Fairbanks so it provides easy access to North Pole, Fox, and the drive to Chena Hot Springs.

We stayed at the River Bend Bed and Breakfast for two nights in December and it was delightful. Debi and Bruce were very professional and there to help us and answer all our questions but gave us plenty of privacy as well.

The Setting was near enough to town but far enough away that we had perfect silence in the evenings. Some of the best sleep any of us have gotten. The cabins are right on the river and we although we did not see any wildlife, we saw plenty of tracks on the frozen river each morning. The Cabins had everything we needed to make ourselves at home. We bought groceries and ate mostly home cooked meals using the utensils and cookware provided. There were even spices and extras we hadn't thought to bring.

If your visiting Fairbanks for any reason, the Riverbend Bed and Breakfast is a great way to feel right at home.
