This is my favorite place to eat in the Boston area, hands down. The food is innovative and interesting, but more importantly it's just made really, really well - whatever you order is going to be made as well as it can be made. There are a core list of staples and a constant rotation of new items. I recommend the migas, the patatas bravas, the croquetas and if you're mildly adventurous the pulpo gallego. Whatever short rib or risotto is on the menu is always worth having, as are any specials (always order specials, it's what the chef is excited to make!). Finally, the sangria is top notch stuff. My one complaint is that they took their amazing churros off the desert menu.
As for service, I have always found the staff to be helpful, attentive and courteous. The management in particular is friendly and always around and looking for ways to help out. Honestly, you just can't go wrong with Barcelona in Brookline! But do be sure to ask for reservations, and it helps to ask a week in advance - everyone knows about this place, and they know it's awesome! I have driven by on a Tuesday night and seen it hopping with a line out the door at 6:30.
