“Beautiful hotel in a beautiful city”
Reviewed 23 March 2012

My husband and I enjoyed everything about our stay in Savannah - including the beautiful Marshall House. I don't think we've ever felt so welcome at a hotel as we did at the Marshall House and highly recommend it.

Room Tip: Because there were no other rooms available, we stayed in a handicapped room on the 4th floor. Alth...

From the moment, we pulled our car up in front of the hotel, we knew we were going to enjoy the Marshall House. The Valet was personable, pleasant and went out of his way to welcome us to this great B&B. Check-in was quick and efficent. We ordered a room with the balcony and we were surprised that we had to climb thru the window to get to the balcony. All we did was laugh and took some funny pictures of our climb in and out. The balcony is furnished with rocking chairs and tables. Very relaxing. Our room had so much charm and character. The bed was so comfy. Bathroom was small but clean and stocked with plenty of towels. Loved the clawfoot tub and the black & white checkered tites on the floor. The breakfast in the solarium was plenty for me.Quiche, fresh fruit, cereals, breads & muffins, several juices, coffee & tea..Wine & cheese was served in the late afternoon which gave us opportunity to meet and chat with other guests. Great walking location to the parks, theater, restaurants shops and river street.. Perfect B&B to stay at in Savannah.

The Marshall house is within easy walking distance to anywhere in historic Savannah. The rooms were warm and inviting, the lobby was very elegant, but still very welcoming. The staff was very nice, especially the breakfast staff. They offer cheese and wine in the library in the afternoon that was very nice. After staying in this historical building that has so much character, I thought why choose to stay in a box hotel room. River street is just 2 streets over, Vic's on the water had a wonderful bar with a piano player and jazz singer. There is a wonderful Thai restaurant across the street. Jen's martini bar is one block over, the best I've had. And you can't beat that Leopold's ice cream is across the street. There is a beautiful square behind the hotel. Everything about the Marshall hotel was perfect for me.

Room Tip: They have rooms that over look the street and they have rooms that overlook the courtyard that is no...

We read some mixed reviews about the place prior to staying here. One reviewer complained of a room so small she was unable to walk about in it, but we decided to try it anyway. It was the best choice we made. Surprisingly we ended up in the same room the reviewer had complained about (204?) and it was small but still very easy to get around in and it had a rather room bathroom. It's an historic inn, this means it wasn't originally designed to meet the expectations of most modern Americans (Europe has an abundance of smaller, historic, hotels). The owners have retrofitted the Marshall house to meet the needs of modern Americans without destroying the original design of the Historic Marshall House Inn. The room we had was small but smartly arranged to fit a large queen sized bed, a mini-fridge, a wardrobe closet, a full sized bathroom, a desk, chairs and a place for our suitcases. There was a small original (but not usable) fireplace and the original wooden floors. We had a view onto the street. The room was charming! The breakfast was good and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay here on our next trip to Savannah.

Room Tip: Be aware that this is an historic inn so some compromises have been made to retain the original hist...

We stayed at the Marshall House for three nights and had a wonderful experience. The staff was especially warm, friendly, and helpful. downtown. The shuttle from the The wine and cheese in the afternoon was a nice touch. The hot breakfast served in the solarium was very nice. We would definitely stay there again when in Savannah.

Room Tip: We had a king room. There was plenty of room.
