“Out of town but accessible and reasonable value”
Reviewed 14 July 2012

Hotels in downtown Savannah were at a premium and so, in complete ignorance of the city geography, we chose this 'midtown' alternative. Being reluctant to pay the rental car premium for a satnav [largely because we still have an old fashioned, probably misplaced, self image of the independent traveller] we found ourselves trawling the outskirts of Savannah like latter day flying Dutchmen hopefully trying to locate the hotel. In fact we were simply inept because although the hotel is quite a way from the city centre it is actually quite accessible via a major route out of town and after the first problem we happily drove in and out of downtown. Parking downtown was actually better [and cheaper] than we anticipated and traffic lighter.

The hotel was more expensive over the weekend [$180 a room] than on the weekday night we stayed. It seemed popular with Memorial Day weekend visitors who took over the small pool area but without ever being intrusive. The rooms were comfortable and spacious for two; using the additional sofa bed might have made them cramped. The bathroom area was on the small side but served its purpose. There was a designated bar/eating area and a restricted range of food was prepared to order; there was also provision of cereals, sandwiches and the like. Service at the front desk was helpful. The surrounding environment was mostly made up of malls and a bit sterile but you could visit a range of stores and food outlets quite easily.

Overall not the best value chain hotel we found on a long road trip but not a bad, reasonably economical, base for visiting Savannah and certainly worth considering for that purpose.

I stayed at this hotel for a weekend and it was very efficient and excellent customer service. The person at the desk asked what floor I preferred and when I told her my knee was bothering me she put me on the first floor near the door. The room was very. Lean and when housekeeping saw me in the hall she asked if I needed anything. I would definitely stay here again.

This is a very nice hotel. The room was clean and of a nice size with two queen beds. It is well located and there is a variety of stores and restaurants around, in case something is forgotten. Many hotels have done away with the in hotel store for forgotten items. They do have the standard items like razors, asprin and toothpaste avaiable. The bistro restaurant is expensive, $13.00 for a sandwich, chips and bottled soda.

The hotel was clean and the staff was very friendly. We had an issue with our AC on Saturday afternoon after returning from River Street (June 23rd). A staff member came up within 5-10 minutes and took care of it. I wished I remembered his name because he was very helpful. We only tried the coffee and did not try the small restaurant area. We would be open to staying at this location again. Very quick drive to the Historic District.

Room Tip: Chosse a room toward the front of the property. There is a 4 lane street toward the back that can be...
