Comfort Suites Historic District
Ranked #48 of 115 Hotels in Savannah
Reviewed 10 December 2014

Looked for a nice hotel that was pet friendly in historic district of Savannah. Found it! Comfort Suites has a first floor area blocked off for those of us who like to take our pet along. Booked on-line with no problem and requested the suite at the end of the hallway. Got it! Amazed at the nice suite for the price. Beds very comfortable and windows had room darkening blinds which were nice. Flat screen TV, microwave, refrigerator, free wi-Fi, and hair dryer with various amenities included. Breakfast was excellent every morning and served till 10:00 am which was a plus. We took advantage of the jacuzzi which was nice. The manager and front desk staff were very friendly. Not a big issue, however, the ladies that worked in the breakfast area were not sociable at all. The ice machine on the first floor didn't work most of the time, but one of the gentlemen that works there got us ice from another floor. Also the door at the end of the hallway had a swipe for your room key but it didn't work either. We had to put a stick in the door to get in and out when taking the dog out. Minor issues but should be repaired. Also having the shuttle to take you places in the historic district and pick you up was nice if you needed that. Since you have to pay $10.00 per day to park at the hotel. We took a tour on Savannah Tours because they picked us up at the hotel and brought us back. It is a hop on hop off tour and we could take our pet with us. River Street also has several "pet friendly" restaurants. (We just googled them.). Great place to stay and will stay again.

Room Tip: We had a room on the first floor at the end of the hallway going outside. It was convenient and qui...

Dear Carol34859,
We are thrilled that you found us! Sometimes a vacation just isn't a vacation without our furry friends. It is also good to know that you were able to take advantage of the amenities we offer our valued guests. Our goal is to provide a "home away from home" experience. Maintenance has addressed the ice machine and back door issues you mentioned. We also appreciate your candor concerning the ladies in the breakfast area and assure you that this has also been addressed. Thank you for taking the time to write such a thoughtful review. We hope you will return again soon!
Happy Holidays to you and yours!

Booked last minute online having read a couple of reviews on the booking agents web page. It lived up to the reviews check in was straight forward and reception was extremely friendly. The concierge was knowledgeable and friendly and got us good trips and recommended eateries. The bed was very comfortable, the rooms are large and clean with a good level of amenities. The complimentary breakfast had plenty of choice and was good. The complimentary shuttle bus is a great benefit although Savannah is compact and great for walking safely even with your beer which is unusual. Would definately stay here again and pleased to recommend. It's only 5 minutes walk from the historic centre and the riverfront.

Room Tip: Both rooms for our party were the same large format with king bed, comfy settee, fridge and microwav...

This is a solid choice in Savannah, the "Hostess City," for quality accommodations that are convenient to everything the historic district has to offer without breaking the bank.

The rooms here are all basically junior suites with partial room dividers separating the sleeping area from a nicely appointed sitting area. Each unit is equipped with a small refrigerator, microwave and coffeemaker. The mattresses and bedding are top-shelf and the sleep experience here is excellent. There is a solid free breakfast provided each morning in a spacious dining area off the lobby. The staff here tries hard to please and is very friendly.

The hotels is just a tad off the beaten path as the last hotel along the northeast edge of the historic district but they make up for it with a free shuttle service. If you don't mind walking a little, you can still get to most places on foot from here, too.

The kiosk off the lobby could have been better stocked on my visit, and considering the hotel's somewhat off the beaten path location, it would be nice if beer and wine were sold as an amenity for guests.

The hotel is on the edge of the historic district, but easily within walking distance of everything. We took a cab ($35) from the airport and didn't need a car while we were there, which seemed to be a good move as it appeared difficult to drive in the historic district with all roundabouts at the green spaces all over. The hotel has a shuttle, which we didn't need, to sites within the historic district. Other hotels had better locations or more charm, but the price was less here and the rooms were nice and the staff was friendly and helpful. There were a few glitches - running out of milk for one breakfast - but overall a good experience. We were there for the marathon and they started breakfast early for us that day.

Dear daveph507,
Thank you for taking the time to write a review.
You are so right, no car is ever needed in The Historic District as walking is truly the best way to get a taste of the history, architecture and local flavor of Savannah. And The Marathon is such an energetic and exciting time to visit! We are glad to know that your stay was a good one and look forward to your return!! Come back and see us again soon!!
All the Best,

We stayed for two nights in November for a conference. It was a short walk (.5 miles) to the convention center my conference was at. The street was safe to walk down, even at night. There is constant traffic on this street. Our room was about what you'd expect. Pros: Ceilings were very tall, beds very comfortable! Cons: Printer in business center was broken (spitting black ink on my documents), however, the front desk staff was very accommodating in printing copies for me at the front desk. Would have appreciated a late check out but they were busy that weekend and unable to accommodate, understandable. Generally it was quite. No large glaring complaints. We never took the shuttle but it seemed to be conveniently available.

Room Tip: Request a top floor, quiet room.

Dear KSo75,
Thank you for your thoughtful review.
I'm proud to say that Guests rave about the comfort factor of our beds! So glad to know that you slept comfortably during your two-night stay. You should know that the unfortunate printer issue you experienced has been fixed but it's great that the Front Desk offered a viable "Plan B".
We appreciate you and do hope that you will come back and see us soon!
With Sincere Thanks,
T. Hall
