“A must do walking tour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 April 2012 via mobile

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our two hour walking tour with Dirk of Savannah Rambles. We were spellbound as we learned about the history, architecture, and culture of this fascinating city. Dirk's knowledge of Savannah astounded us and enriched our vacation. Highly recommended tour led by an architect and historical preservationist.

“Know Where You Will End Up Before You Start”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 April 2012

Dirk is extremely knowledgeable of the architectural history in the Savannah Historical Area and provides an entertaining and educational tour. One of the best. He does not stint on the time.

The only problem we encountered, and it has happened on two different tours with Dirk, is that the ending point after a two hour walk is a long way from the starting point. Unless you have worked out transportation (two couples, two cars, etc) in advance and staged a car near the ending, you are in for a long walk to get back to where you originally parked. On a hot day for senior citizens, this can be a major issue. Ask and plan ahead.

“Great guide @ family reunion”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 April 2012

Dirk of "Savannah Rambles" is the best guide one could find for a walking tour in the Historic District of Savannah. He is encyclopedic in his knowledge of the architecture, and articulate in his explanations. Ours was a family group, ranging in age from 25 to 84, all of us talkative and curious. Dirk managed to keep us moving in an orderly way [no mean feat with our crowd], to offer us information on important sites, and to answer the volley of questions that came at him. Half of us are deaf, and Dirk spoke clearly and looudly enough that we could all hear him -- not true of all southern guides. We thought he was terrific! I highly recommend taking any of his tours [we took a 2-hour "architectural ramble"]. I arranged our group tour, and I am grateful to Dirk for providing a highlight of our 5-day family reunion in Savannah.

"Dirk' of Savannah Rambles, provided my friend and I an excellent overview of the Architecture of that beautiful city. He even walked by and picked us up at our B and B, so that we had a extra time to learn more history. Take his tour.

“Great combination of history, architecture and preservation.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 February 2012

Dirk's background as an architect, his interest in current day preservation, and knowledge of the city make him an excellent walking tour guide. We enjoyed his standard "ramble" in 2011 and came back a year later to pick up where we left off on a more customized "ramble." We were every bit as satisfied the second time.
