It's true, according to the tour guide at the Davenport House. Faux painting was all the rage in Savannah....so much so that even the church's marble is an illusion. The beauty of the church rivals any I've seen in France, though!

Truly magnificent building, we came across this while walking historical district. Entered just at end of noon mass, so quietly sat at back of the church until mass finished and people filed out. We were then able o walk about the church. Some fantastic murals on the ceiling, plus impressive stain glass windows, huge pipe organ (pipes high up at the back of the church). Worth a stop in for a quiet moment of reflection.

Beautiful Catholic Church! The stained glass rivals that of some churches I’ve visited in Italy! Definitely worth a visit.

What a beautiful cathedral, when we where walking someone from the church starts giving a brief history of the cathedral and that was a plus.

Unlike a lot of Cathedrals in France which are dark and heavy, this place has a lovely light atmosphere with awesome paintings on the ceilings and walls. Definitely worth visiting. Entry is free. Just be respectful of any services.
