We went to the Aquarium on a Friday in the summer, and based on previous reviews, we purchased our tickets online for the 9 am show/tour. We showed up 15 mins late but there was no problem at all. Definitely book an early admission time and do it on line, because when we left 4 hours later, the aquarium was very crowded.
My son, wife and my 11 year old son loved the experience. We probably took about 250 pictures and the big hits were the large puffer fish, the sharks, the jelly fish, the dolphin show, the sting rays and the three legged sea turtle and tons more. We were in awe the whole time and a fantastic escape for half the day. I would have to say, this was the best part of our trip to Baltimore and even at the costly price of $84.70 for 2 adults and an eleven year old child, it was worth every cent and the memories will last forever.
If you have kids, there is a place to buy food, but it was expensive, as would be expected. You are allowed to bring your own food, so you are able to save some money there. Also, you are not allowed to bring baby strollers into the aquarium, so be prepared to park you stroller and carry everything.

It's probably different depending upon the day you go (we went on a Saturday) and the time (we were there in the afternoon) but the aquarium was incredibly crowded. It's expensive and they let too many people in at a time. My boyfriend and I struggled to see all of the tanks and didn't have a chance to read much because we were being shoved along by the people behind us. I felt rushed and didn't really get to experience everything the aquarium had to offer. That being said, the exhibits are beautiful and watching the sharks and the rays was one of the best experiences.

The National Aquarium, located in Baltimore's beautiful Inner Harbor, is a true treasure. Unlike other venues of the sort, this aquarium seems dedicated to educating people rather than just putting on a 'show'.

It is not the largest aquarium in the world, so walking it in an afternoon is definitely doable and though it may not house some of the largest and/or rarest species in the world, these creatures of the deep and faraway lands are no less impressive. Oh...and the 4-D movie experience, is an absolute MUST. Just be sure to bring your poncho;)

Another bonus..is membership. You can apply the ticket purchase of the day of your visit to a yearly membership (there's a grace period). Membership as I understand it, gets you into the Baltimore and D.C. National Aquarium free for an entire year. There are also discounts for movies, goodies in the gift shops, etc, but... the most important thing is that those funds go to further research of the animals that we come to love and learn about because of places such as The National Aquarium.

Already planning a visit to the D.C. side;)

Too many wild kids without manors. The temperature in the entire building except the dolphin show was WAY TOO HOT, even after taking off coat and sweater. Many others stating same. Hard to see the display cases with the various items as children run to the front and stand up on the rim and block view. People do not move so either you stand there and sweat and wait to see --or move on. Dim lighting does not help. And, hard to read the plaques above the glass tanks to see what is in each one--print very small and sometimes there are so many plaques what animal you might see in front of you in the tank has a plaque far away on top.
Rainforest progressions is stupid. You go all the way up and there is not a thing to see. So it is basically a people shuffler back down to the bottom. That really needs work so that it is a destination that ends in WOW not THAT IS IT??Dolphin show ok. worth 4 $ after 5pm. would not spend more. And that goes for the regular price also ; wait until 430 to purchase the 445 tickets for 8$ each instead of 26. Go in asa you can because there is a line inside - 25 min wait.
