“Quirky, dark, good food overall”

Atmosphere says a lot about a place, and this funky joint can be a little depressing. Had to use cell phones for lighting more than once, because it was so dark in the restaurant. Food was quite good in some cases, average in others. Local, sustainable food.

When we learned Street 14 Cafe wasn't going to be open for dinner, we asked them for suggestions and they immediately sent us across the street to Albatross, and we are very happy they did. From cocktails thru appetizers to main courses, eating and drinking was uniformly excellent. We weren't expecting this level of food and service in Astoria. The ambience is spare (wooden tables, dark walls, mirrors) and simple, service professional and informal, and it was easily one of the better meals we've eaten. Highly recommended. (And someday, we'll go back to Street 14 Cafe when it's open!)

Excellent food & great vibe ~ a pleasant surprise in a small town with live music to boot! One of our favorite stops in town :)

The food is ok but small and overpriced. The cocktails are not anything special and also overpriced. This would be bad enough but the snotty arrogant attitude of the bar tender/ owner is intolerable. I guess asking a question or taking more than 3 seconds to order is grounds for bad treatment. Better to go to the Carruthers bar, Fort George, or the Columbian bar if you want a down to earth experience.

The more urban menu and atmosphere was a welcome change to our trip. I do remember thinking similarly "Slice of Portland in Astoria," but that isn't a bad thing. Especially with a good wine list, a beautiful selection of charcuterie, dungeness crab deviled eggs, bourbon bread pudding. It was a delicious meal in a hipster, yet unpretentious space.
