My husband and I stayed here for one night this last weekend and were not disappointed. We arrived around 8:30 in the evening and the front desk lady was wonderful and friendly. She quickly gave us information on the hotel: where breakfast is, the beautiful view from the rooftop, the history of the hotel and what they were doing to renovate the hotel even more. My husband and I took the elevator up to the top (nice size for a hotel built in 1911) and checked out our room. We decided to explore the hotel a bit and went down to the basement to check out the breakfast area and wine bar. My husband and I are not drinkers so we asked where to find a milkshake in Astoria. The bartender (wine is only served here) and the front desk lady told us of the best places to go and gave us ideas of how to enjoy the night in the city. What GREAT staff!

The bed: the most comfortable bed and pillows I have ever slept on in a hotel
The bathroom: clean and beautiful, heated tile floors & tiled shower
The room: nice flat screen TV (no DVD player), original art on the walls, dimming desk light, wall sconces for bed lights & did I mention Comfortable bed?!!
As to be expected with a hotel of this age: stairs are steep, you will need to take them to get to the rooftop view (as there is no elevator above floor 5) and the view is on level 6, some of the floors creak and you can hear people in the hallways and in their rooms (only when you are in the hall).
Continental Breakfast: Hard boiled eggs, various breads to toast, cereal, yogurt, juice, coffee, and I believe they have more but we came late to breakfast (30 minutes to the close).

Overall: We were not disappointed with this stay in any way! In fact if we could have stayed another night we would have gladly booked this hotel. If we come back to Astoria the Hotel Elliott will be the first place we stay.

Room Tip: We stayed on the 3rd floor near a stairwell and could hear the elevator and people walking in the ha...

Situation: Anniversary over-nighter. Booked a room with a "fireplace" as we had seen in the photos. Read great reviews in magazines and here.
Pros: Nice details that really felt luxurious. The heated tiles in the bath, the down pillows, the pillow top mattress, great sheets, nice big TV and decor all combined for a really nice feel. The shower was STRONG...so much so my wife felt it too much....me? Give me height and water pressure baby! Nice high head and plenty of pressure. The windows could be opened. No drafty old hotel here. The room was so quiet (don't know what happened to the others here) we couldn't believe the place was booked. The hotel so close in to the 'fun' part of old downtown that we didn't need to take the car anytime and the price (I felt) was very reasonable. The "terrace" or rooftop is a great reason to consider this hotel. Even in be in good weather. The staff were very accommodating even to the point of us arriving a tad early and them calling us when the room was ready. The last is also a con but it was nice to have a fireplace in the room (even though it was fake and we were not aware of that when we booked the room-we had a good laugh over it though)
Cons: So first the fireplace. While nice to have the heat control and all it did seem like a bit of a switcheroo. Not a big deal but just know the fireplaces are not real. There was a few cleanliness issues but nothing bad (some dust in the coffee pot, etc.) The continental breakfast was tiny and not much point. The biggest con (which is still not much) was the radio...yes the radio. All these nice extras and then a cruddy little clock radio that couldn't pick up any stations...so no music for us less we brought some. with all of the gadgets out there one would think this would not be a big deal. I hope it is addressed in the future.
Overall I would recommend this for the romantic get-away type weekend. We opted for this over a B&B and we not disappointed.

Room Tip: Call way ahead and request the fireplace room.

We decided to book a last minute New Year's trip to Astoria - not for wild New Year's parties of course, but to see the ocean and have a nice quiet break together - so we picked Hotel Elliott for it's convenient location and reasonable prices. We were very happy with our choice. The rooms were small, but clean and well appointed. The windows had recently been re-done so that there was absolutely no street noise despite the fact we were only on the second floor and could see the party goers below. The staff were friendly, and the breakfast was pretty much what I'd expect from a continental breakfast. The location was excellent - easy walking distance to all of downtown with a number of very good restaurants nearby. The only real letdown was the wine bar which had all the ambiance of a Denny's, but there were so many other options nearby that we weren't that concerned. One nice surprise was the rooftop viewing area with a nice firepit and great views of the city - great for sipping wine quietly while watching the hubbub below.

This is a small hotel within walking distance of many restaraunts and the Fort George Brewery in Astoria. The rooms are clean, reasonably sized and remodelled very nicely. The rooms are comfortable - we had no problems with the noise. Our room had a new flatscreen and the bed was comfortable. The continental breakfast in the morning was adequate - fresh fruit, yogurt and bagels, etc. We will go back to Hotel Elliott again.

Hotel Elliott is very clean, elegant, and perfectly located in the center of the city, with easy access to shops and restaurants. The staff was very polite and helpful. This is a great place to spend the weekend or stay for the night while passing through town.
