I have eaten here many times. This trip, I tried a different dish. I was amazed at how delicious it was. I ordered their pork chop and the vegetable was scalloped potatoes. Our serve was top notch. My food was the best that I have ever had there! I am still sad that they don't use the metal goblets any more. It added so much authentic charm. Now...it is just like every other restaurant. Kinda sad. None the less, food was great. I suggest you make reservations for dinner as this is a period restaurant and popular for tourist.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We don't use the goblets anymore because people where taking them home with them as souvenirs! We had to make a change. I am really happy to hear that you enjoyed your meal! Please come back and see us again soon!

If you are looking for a dining experience that offers great food and takes you back to the civil war era ...then you should definitely try farnsworth inn. This inn is historic and housed confederate sharpshooters during the conflict and served as a hospital after the battle. The side wall of the house has more than 100 bullet holes! We had dinner at the Meade and Lee dining room and I must say, their porkchop is one of the best I've ever tasted. It was marinated and grilled to perfection..and was very tender and moist. Your meal comes with the Jennie wade bread and apple butter...the best apple butter !!! Also will give you pickled watermelon rinds and spoon bread.your meal also comes with 2 sides..I would suggest trying the pumpkin fritters...they are so good and can be your dessert! I definitely recommend this place.

I loved Gettysburg and stayed several nights in a Marriott but my dream was to stay one night in the historic and allegedly haunted Farnsworth Inn. I splurged on a room for $139 for one night.
I was thrilled to get the western themed Custer Room that is entered from outside the inn in a new section of the building. The original building predates the Civil War and I took a couple of ghost tours offered by the Inn.
The Custer Room is named after General George Custer and his pictures and other memorabilia adorn the room. I was warmly welcomed by the staff and had a nice breakfast in the main building the next morning.
The Farnsworth Inn is proud of their friendly ghosts and my room had a notebook for guests to write any experiences. I had a recorder on all night and still have to review it.
I was just beyond thrilled to stay in the inn.
The Inn is in a prime location in downtown Gettysburg. Several historic homes, shopping, restaurants and tours are all within walking distance. There is free parking for guests in the back.

Room tip: The more allegedly haunted rooms are in the main building

Recently moved to Gettysburg and trying out places to eat. We decided on the Farnsworth House Inn. We ate in the dining rooms and not the tavern. It was set up in the 1800s style with servers in Civil War era attire. A very pleasant environment. The hostess was very friendly and the server ( Victoria) was very nice, efficient, and accommodating. The food was excellent. I had the pork chop and my wife and daughter had the chicken. Both were very well prepared and delicious. The bread pudding was also excellent for our dessert. Overall, it was a very nice dining experience. We had seen different reviews on various websites, both positive and negative. But, our experience was very positive. I would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Gettysburg.

Definitely you will not leave feeling hungry! Portions are large, everything is farm fresh. Honestly the best part of our meal was the garden salad as the fresh greens tasted nothing like what you'd buy in the store! My husband had the pork chop with apples-he thought the pork was a little on the tough side though. I had the 1/2 roasted chicken which was perfectly done! The ambience is that of the period. The only negative comment I would make is that the server was only mediocre at best.
