El Palacio was surprisingly busy when we arrived early on a Sunday evening after a matinée at nearby Luna Stage in West Orange. The place was filled with families and thinned out by 6 p.m. Other reviewers have mentioned that little English is spoken here, but our waiter is a native English speaker (Darn! We love to practice our Spanish but quickly acquiesce when it's not necessary!). If you like things sweet, start with sangria, but ask for a small pitcher. Ours really was too much for two people to finish. The rotisserie chicken really is delicious, moist with crispy skin.Rice and beans were served piping hot, lightly salted. My husband had a stew of combined seafood, rich with mussels, calamari, clams and the kitchen had no problem in not including the shrimps. We will return to El Palacio for such tasty fare, welcoming service and such affordable prices.

When my son and my peruvian daughter-in-law were visiting us, we let her choose the restaurant to visit. She checked menus of various places online, and decided on this one. We were not disappointed. The food was excellent, and the atmosphere was very family-like. We altried different entrees., which were all delicious. They even have a picture menu for ease in ordering, for those unfamiliar with peruvian cuisine. My family has returned and will do so again.

We've been to Palacio del Pollo several times and enjoy the food there. Your best bet is their chicken (available only on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday), cooked to perfection and very tasty. The best beef option we've tried is the bistec, NOT the baby churrasco. The bistec is tastier and better cooked. The white bean side is more of a soupy but tasty accompaniment to the meal.

You can order by pointing to the menu items which have descriptions. There was only one fluent English speaker when we visited but everyone gets by just fine.

My wife and I have been to "El Palacio" twice, and we have both remarked at how good the food was. We know nothing about Peruvian food, but everything we have tasted has been great. The rotisserie chicken absolutely puts Boston Market to shame. We've also had other chicken and beef dishes and thought that they were very fresh and flavorful.

Not everything is available on the menu every day. In particular, the rotisserie chicken is only available Fri-Sun.

We've found the service to be very friendly and efficient -- even when language is a bit of a barrier. The decor is not fancy (think plastic slipcovers over the tablecloths), but it is spotlessly clean. Their parking lot is too small for the building, but you can park on the street.

Warning: the portions are ginormous. Split your entrees, or plan to bring them home, or pig out and skip your next meal or two.
