Gran Caffe L'Aquila is like finding a little bit of Italy in Center City Philadelphia.
The food is very authentic, and the staff is extremely knowledgeable.
On of the highlights is the gelato which is superb.
We came here during restaurant week recently for the 4 course $35.00 dinner. We started with delicious oysters, followed by octopus that was wonderful. I had a paparadelle pasta ragu, and my husband had the monkfish entree. Both were equally delicious. We finished the evening with the best gelato we have ever had. Good service (should lose the hats though). Evegenia was wonderful and helpful. Can't wait to try again.
Attended brunch here. Service was impeccable, restaurant was immaculate, food was delicious. I like coffee from arrival to departure so had to repeatedly request this. I ordered the Italian croissant which was delicious as previously stated. Italian prosciutto and cheeses on the table were nicely presented. Gelatos were wonderful, pistachio, raspberry and chocolate. Only other problem would be that I don't believe this restaurant to be handicap accessible and brunch was held up a steep set of steps.
Savory gelato to go with some dishes. Some of the wines by the glass not s good. Not sure about the dopey hats wait staff wear
