Description: Amis brings the quintessential Roman-style trattoria to Philadelphia’s Center City neighborhood. Opened in 2010 by Vetri Family partners Jeff Benjamin and Chefs Marc Vetri, Brad Spence and Jeff Michaud, Amis has cemented its place as one of the city’s premier dining destinations, garnering high praise from such publications as the Philadelphia Inquirer (three-out-of-four-bells) and Bon Appetit magazine (“Top 10 Places for Pasta in the U.S.”), and from the crowds of regular guests who pack its dining room nightly for dinner and weekends for brunch. Lively, comfortable and convivial, dining at Amis is perfect for a variety of occasions, boasting a share-plates menu of house-made pasta, salumi, farm-fresh meats and peak seasonal vegetable dishes, perfect for sharing while celebrating with friends and family, or a meal out with someone special. Be sure to ask about our “Beast of Amis” menu too. These special dishes feature whole animals—birds, hogs, fish and even full sides of beef.

Great dinner! The scallops were melt in your mouth good and the cauliflower appetizer was delicious. The pasta is home made and really good and the meatballs were a good start as well. Is definitely go back for this great Italian food.

Visited BAR AMIS at the Naval Shipyard while on a business trip this week. Staying at hotel near the airport finds me in a restaurant desert. Located this place, about a 10 minute drive away. Really nice. Good atmosphere, good beer and wine selection. Rigatoni bolgnese was a nice change of pace from hotel bar food. Two floors, a quiet dining room upstairs and a too noisy bar on the first floor. I ate at the bar because I don't care to sit at a dining room table alone. Somewhere between the two options would have been ideal. Nonetheless, I'll return as the food was quite good and it beats the hell out of the hotel. Please just turn down the music a bit. Thanks.

Great service and food. We got the chicken parmesan, fried mozzarella sticks, and the s'mores dessert. The chicken parmesan is not served with pasta or melted cheese. Still amazing. I did feel the food needed some salt but not a big deal

We dined at Amis Philadelphia tonight. Rarely am I inspired to write a bad review. It was terrible and, as a patron, I feel taken advantage of. Let's start with the lamb chops - INCREDIBLY fatty, poor quality meat. Why is this the standard of lamb chop purchased? FAT, FAT, FAT. We eat lamb chops out often, and the quality of these chops was terrible. The buffalo mozzarella appetizer with apples and chili oil was an assault on the senses. The chili oil was so intensely hot that it entirely overpowered the dish. The mozzarella was lost. Inedible. The fluke crudo was bland at best, perhaps because I had them hold the pomegranate seeds? But still! The pasta alla'matriciana was also very bland. Very little taste. Why? And a very small pasta portion. The only decent dish was the roasted half chicken which was actually quite good, and for dessert the rice pudding was excellent. Unfortunately, to top the evening off the decaf coffee came out tepid. Not remotely hot. A sorry choice. Will never go back. They can and should have done better.

After a long day, a glass of wine was required. It was happy hour and I had to try the Brussels sprouts which were very good and at $3 off.
For dinner I had the Dornish hen with seasonal grilled veggies. My waiters recommendation was right on.The grilled hen was juicy and tender. The veggies were also good.
This was a pleasant surprise to have such good food at what I thoughts was a bar.
