Philadelphia has been on the list for a while and we had the opportunity to visit for a few days around Independence Day so chose the Palomar having stayed in a few Kimpton hotels in the past.
The Palomar (also known as the Architect’s Building) is a beautiful Art Deco building close to many of the main attractions, but far enough away not to be affected by the road closures of July 4th (unlike the other Kimpton property which was right in the thick of things).
As always we received a warm welcome at reception, checked in efficiently and soon were in our room. The room follows through the art deco theme of the outside and came with a decent king sized bed and nice bathroom. Love the toiletries in this hotel! Even better that they come in large bottles so that there is less wastage.
There’s the usual wine hour in reception every day - we did make use of this a couple of times, but we were too often out and about exploring.
The gym was well appointed and we made use of this throughout our stay (despite all of that walking every day!!). We didn’t however eat in the hotel - there were too many restaurants to choose from elsewhere.
We’d definately recommend this hotel to all who want to explore the city.More
